"How long we are going to tolerate this. Don't we need to defend ourselves" Yes you do. But you need to take bold steps like the America and Israel are taking to hunt down the terrorist in their own safe heavan terrotories.
Just don't keep yelling.

is this war about religion too?
To: All_The_Info
Absolutely...Pakistan is a muslim state which at one time was part of India.

India was split into two countries to accomodate two religious groups. The Hindu's stayed in in India, and Pakistan was create to let the Muslims have their own country. So I guess you can tell that if the Palestinians were given their own state, it would solve Isreal's problems and there would be no more Jihad against the USA (/sarcsm)

And they both will have a hand in the beginning of WWIII before it's all over with. Just my opinion, but how valuable can Kashmir be?

Greeeeaaaaat. Two nulcear powers with some really bad blood in their history have picked a pretty bad time to start rattling their sabres at each other (once again). It's amazing that there haven't been more frightening world-wide events in the wake of 9-11 thus far, especially with the number of hawks running around, myself included (thanks again, president Bush). However... we're just one small misunderstanding, one mistake, one wild-eyed activist away from some real ugliness.

You have to wonder if Musharaf would welcome a limited conventional incursion into Kashmir to create a skirmish with India. This could potentially create cohesion within his own country by re-establishing the external enemy (India) as the bigger threat than any actions taking place in Afghanistan. Perhaps there would be less fundamentalist pressure on him concerning his relationship with the US.

Look at Pakistan even though India gave away one of it's state to muslims, till today they are still fighting to get more states.
These bunch of pigs are always hungry, the more they gets the more they wants. It's time to throw these mullahs outside Earth.

If Pakistan and the PRC (that's right, the PRC) can sew up Kashmir, then they will have completed the pincer motion that is aimed at reducing India's (and, by extension, the West's) ability to project into the heart of Asia. India, already surrounded landwise by PRC proxies Pakistan and Myanmar, would lose her one remaining bit of geostrategic leverage. I suggest that you read the following Yossef Bodansky papers for more details - "Islamabad's Road Warriors", "The Rise of the Trans-Asian Axis" and, always a classic, "Beijing's Surge For the Strait Of Malacca". Just do a simple search on "Bodansky" using www.google.com. There you will find a treasure trove of related knowledge. Freegards, BM.
(PS - if you're up for some reading material that is a bit more controversial, at least it seems to be on this forum, then I recommend the following books: "Hegemon", by Stephen Mosher, "China Attacks", by Mosher and DeVore (this one is scenario based fiction), and, "The Origins Of The Fourth World War" by Jeff Nyquist.)

but how valuable can Kashmir be? How about if Someone ask us (America) to forget about California? Kashmir is the heart of India. It's more than just a mere state.
The Persian poet Sheikh Sadia once said of Kashmir, "If there is any heaven on earth, it is here."

Ok, lets say that the Paks and the Indians get into it. We have forces stationed in Pakistan. How is all of this going to work out for us?
To: Don Myers
We have forces stationed in Pakistan. How is all of this going to work out for us? Even now Radical Islamic groups, strongly represented in the Pakistani military and tacitly supported by the government, are destabilizing the country and the region and providing critical support to the Taliban regime in neighboring Afghanistan.
Many members of the congress strongly feels that the war against terrorism cannot be over unless until Pakistan is brought to justice.
Therefore one day America is going to bomb Pakistan anyway. If that's what going to happen then it doesn't matter if India attacks Pakistan or not.
As we know Pakistan is not capable of winning conventional war with India. We would be happy to take out Pak nukes and then leave Pak at the mercy of India so that we don't have to spend resources in order to bring Pakistan to justice.

Maybe Pakistan is second on our list of things to do?
To: johniegrad
"You have to wonder if Musharaf would welcome a limited conventional incursion into Kashmir to create a skirmish with India." You are right. It's good thinking from his side but this time it won't work for him. He has gone too far, he will be rested soon.

"Maybe Pakistan is second on our list of things to do?" No I don't think so. Pakistan is very important for us in this long war for many reasons apart from political and geographical ones.
So it would be wise enough to remove the other states sponsoring terrorism first before turning the heat on Pakistan. This way we would make sure that other muslims nation doesn't unite themselves against us. By the time they will realize what's happening it would be too late for them. However if India attacks Pakistan in the meantime then our plan will change. We will have to attack IRAQ almost immediately to confuse other nations before they try to unite themselves. We will have to take the initiatives.
As Mr. Bush has rightly said, "not only will we bring them to justice, we will bring those who harbor them, who hide them, who feed them, who encourage them, to justice." and this war will be fought on all fronts (political, military and other levels).
