This is WAAAYYYYY too much information.

One of the first things I saw during my first visit to New York was a big subway poster about anal warts. Now that was too much information.

..."NORMAL FOLK" are not sexual abused, assaulted or raped. Obviously. I'll remember to tell my sister-in-law that one. Having had been raped at 18 MONTHS by her natural mother's boyfriend and raped in early adulthood by a complete stranger, I'm sure she'll be dancing in the streets to know you consider her to be something beyond "normal folk."

Obviously, such experiences are outside of the norm. That such things occur is a true tragedy. It is my hope that our society will continue to work to make such horrific occurences a thing of the past.

Yes, people who are violated in such a way experience a number of sexual problems, including promiscuity and homosexuality. Homosexuals in particular trace their initiation into that perversion to a rape or molestation as a child. Attempting to normalize these reactions is of no benefit to the victims. In fact, it is probably more harmful as it can prevent their seeking the therapy that they need to return to a healthy life.

I don't blame people for reacting in this way. Obviously, it is a symptom of the violence that they've been subjected to. I do blame those who would prevent them from getting the help they so desparately need.

One can only hope.

You would hope that a parent would say nasty things about their child?

I think that's just a tad sick.

I'm really hoping it didn't include any pictures!

Gee, with articles like this, it's hard to imagine why Salon.com is going down the crapper... so to speak. ;^)

What did you mean to imply with the word "spurs"?

Perhaps for the same reason that people who don't do drugs are so concerned with its legalization.

That's called a gotcha. Good point.

I honestly don't recall. It took me a while to figure out why anybody would feel the need to advertise about it.

It's actually an argument for monogamy, whether you're homosexual or heterosexual. That argument doesn't seem to be very popular in either camp these days.

Do you think Dick Cheney says nasty things about his daughter, because she's a homosexual?

No, I suspect he says some very nasty things about her very nasty practices. Like most Christians, I suspect Dick Cheney very much loves the sinner while very much hating the destructive and hateful sin she commits.

And, by the way, your phase "she's a homosexual" is an ambiguous phrase. She is "a homosexual" in same sense an active burglar is "a criminal." She earns the category by her wrongful acts not her being. The Lord's injuction is clear: "go and sin no more." There is hope -- and His Name is Jesus.

I've been a practicing homosexual for more than two decades now....

I'm a gay man, and before recently I'd never heard about this. Why isn't anyone talking about it?

Just calm down, sir. According to the statistics, wou will be dead in a few years and it wont matter. Have a nice day.

Looks like the more one practices, the greater his chances of killing himself. You mean like smoking? Or drinking alcohol? Or excessive consumption of fatty foods? Or any of countless other self-destructive behaviors people might choose to engage in

Quite correct, but out of these self-destructive behaviors, the only one the government protects and legislates for is homosexuality. Free condoms (that don't prevent HPV, as the doctor said in the above article), hostiles, special rights, etc., all seem like a tacit endorsement of the self destructive behavior (interesting that you fianlly admitted that it is).

Apparently you haven't been paying very close attention to government restrictions on smoking, and government required warning labels on alcohol.

Personally I think that government should stop all social programs, stop all socialized medicine, get the hell out of our lives, and leave us alone unless someone's rights have been violated.
