Don't forget this: the day after Halloween is "All Saints Day"....a holy day of obligation, for my religion anyway. I'm Catholic. Guess what religion was attacked in Pakistan on Saturday or Sunday? CATHOLIC.

Halloween is also known as "All Saints Eve". We were taught that in catholic school. It's not all about "dressing up" and getting candy. ;-) DJ

Let's clear this up, DJ. I understand everything you and the others are saying. For Ashcroft to take this threat very serious, there had to be substantial reasons for him to do so. I can appreciate that.

OTOH, this warning will only serve to activate the news networks to try and reason WHERE the new terrorist target will be. So if NO one has a clue, then there isn't much any of us can really do about it, now is there?

I think that is what the government is trying to avoid. I just hope we don't have to do that too late after another mass casualty terrorist attack which could have been avoided by the government taking effective action, as opposed to issuing useless vague warnings.

C-4 can do a lot of damage at specific locations, but can't do much damage to the country as a whole. However, nuclear or some other type of germ warfare would be something to worry about.

If they had nuclear weapons, why would they hijack airplanes and fly themselves into buildings? Why not just leave a nuclear bomb in a luggage locker at Grand Central Station, set the timing device, and take the next train to Albany?

12 years of Catholic school here - I know what you're talking about. But, I read something, or heard something (and now the last 6 weeks with the flood of information, I'm getting foggy on details) that was very specific about Halloween and made reference to it being All Saint's Eve and some correlation to some other EVIL associated with Halloween in the eyes of Islam (or perhaps just the fundamentalists.) Wish I could remember exactly what it was. If someone out there knows what I'm talking about, please chime in.

In any event, since the attack in Pakistan was specifically on Catholics, this is taking on the appearance of a religious war...maybe more deeply rooted than hatred of America...but a deep-seated revenge for the Crusades. My husband lived in Saudi Arabia for a few years and got the impression Islam has never truly gotten over the Crusades, or being dethroned as the world power.

C-4 the same explosive found at the bottom of the bag of a young woman several months pregnant flying from London to Tel Aviv. Can't remember the flight #, but she was going to meet her boyfriend whose was from Palestine. They were to marry when she arrived. This story was a number of years ago and the woman was Irish. Fortunately, El Al airlines were very careful as we all know about checking baggage and recognizing out of the ordinary situations such as a young pregnant Irish woman with only one bag traveling to Tel Aviv alone. Apparently her mole boyfriend traweled ahead and told her to meet him.

Just a point of clarification...I read yesterday that the attack was on a Protestant congregation that was meeting at St Dominick'c Catholic Church. Which still pits islam against Christianity.
