It is a matter of degree. The culture we have in American now is not a worthy replacement for the traditional cultures of the world. You mention AIDS drugs in Africa. That is an interesting example of unintended consequences in action. AIDS is a life style disease, as you probably know. If we prolong the life of people with AIDS in Africa the cumulative effect is to allow each infected person more time to spread the virus. Sub-Sahara Africa is such a bewildering mess that an intelligent republic would choose to have nothing to do with it at all.
Our involvement in the middle east revolves around oil politics and Israel. A case can be made that oil politics requires intervention on our part, although I don't think so.
Our support for less than 3 million zionists to the real estate of Palestinian Arabs and Christians who have lived in the region generations was a prime mistake on the part of politicians in the West. Eventually it will lead to nuclear war. It is so unjust that the entire Muslim world numbering over a billion are unified against us behind the issue. At this point in time, there is no recourse but to go forward until the inevitable happens. Pathetic.
