Fun to do at protests: burn a peace symbol.
To: spacealien
And sing, "All we are saying, is give peace a light. Hey, does anyone have a match?"

A war protest is being held in Sacramento tomorrow and FReepers and friends will be there to rally for America's War on Terrorism. God Bless America

"Give Peace a Chance..."
We tried that. Not any more. Now it's WAR. If we could only get Congress off their collective butts and declare one, in writing, printed on the front pages of newspapers and national magazines around the World, and placed into the Congressional Record.

mountaineer:
JWinNC has posted some protest info on the North Carolina locale page.
He had previously posted some links, but they have disappeared off the page now; pushed off by other posts, I think.
Maybe JW will post the links on this thread for us.
JWinNC recently posted on the NC locale page:
There is going to be an anti-American, anti-Pres. Bush, "Peace" rally in Chapel Hill this weekend. We need a counter protest! Spread the word about this.
Here is the Anti-American protest info:
Chapel Hill
Oct. 27 1 p.m.
McCorkle Place (outside quad across the street from the post office on Franklin St.)
Organized by the Coalition to End the Cycle of Violence
CONTACT: 919-563-2636, or justice_not_war321@yahoo.com
We will hold a state-wide rally with speakers and music. A march around parts of downtown Chapel Hill will follow. The march will be followed by a time of networking and organizing for a sustained movement.
I don't think anyone has obtained a permit for a counter protest. I don't how to do this or organize it, but I'd love to get it together. Does anyone want to see if we can get it going?
JW
JW: Flag me back to this thread if you post any links. Thanks.
FRegards,
CD

Darn, I missed the rally tonight: Bloomington, Indiana: Candlelight Peace Vigil. It was "sponsered" by Bloomington-Normal Citizens for Peace and Justice. Darn, I would have loved to have gone downtown to see what all these "Normal Citizens" looked like. The groups I usually see are far from normal.
But never fear, in this happy happy college town, there will be yet another rally tommorow: Act Now to Stop War and End Racism.
