Vanity -- Help! I need unique couple costume ideas

Don't have a "couples" idea, but I once saw a great one for a woman:

Dress up in a short party dress, big wig, lots of makeup, nylon stockings, high heels, etc. Using a strap or other means of support, attach a small table or nicely finished piece of wood to your waist. A doily is also a nice touch. Bolt a small lamp to the table, and using double-sided tape, place an ashtray, pack of cigs, half-full cocktail glass, matches, a Princess phone and maybe some condoms on the table. Letterman also had a kid on his show with a large, truck-shaped foam rubber costume. The thing fit around his middle snugly and was supported by suspenders. When Letterman asked him what he was supposed to be, the kid performed a graceful shoulder-roll. "Oh, a Suzuki Samurai!", noted Dave. :-)

I suppose that someone could do something similar based on the Ford Explorer / Firestone tire thing. Perhaps "matching" his & hers costumes. Any nearby highway should supply truck "retreads" along the shoulder. Someone could easily dress as "Tread Separation".

Once when I was pursuing a major in computer science in college, I and a bunch of nerd buddies went to a Halloween party dressed in our normal everyday nerd getup; but each of us kept pointing with our left arm at the next one of us in line, no matter where we were in the room. We told everybody we were a singly-linked list. (Doubly-linked would have been theoretically possible, but you can't hold food or drink that way.) The guy at the end of the list kept his left fist at his waist with his elbow out: a null pointer.

This won't apply, but years ago I went to a Purim party (Purim is a Jewish celebration of the events described in the Biblican book of Esther) with a T-shirt on which I had painted in huge letters, BSD. Then I had a bunch of nametags pinned to me in various places: Hegai, Shaashgaz, etc. Nobody but other computer geeks got it.

My daughter and her husband dressed in hospital gowns with fake rearends showing. They were the life of the party. Had em' rolling in the floor laughing.
