Arrrrgghh! Teach For America.........brainwashed graduates "donating" two years to brainwash little kids.
You're right, this guy does get better and better.
To: razorback-bert
I can understand attacks against me and my self-admitted elitism, but attacking Teach for America....Laura Bush herself is a patron of this organization....
Yes it is run by liberals, but it is a worthwhile cause.....Should there be no conservative teachers in Compton?
To: watsonfellow
Actually, since next year I will be teaching in Compton, CA, through Teach for America, Decline and Fall has recently become my favorite Waugh novel. The only "Decline And Fall" I ever read was "Decline And Fall of the Roman Empire" by Gibbons but what do I know since I am one of those terribly impolite yahoo populist conservatives. Oh, did I mention that it was the unabridged edition? I read it while traipsing around Europe. And remember, I said it was the UNABRIDGED edition (in the original Latin).

Since when were we expected to act "dignified" at a Rock Concert!

Laura Bush herself is a patron of this organization.... If this is genuinely important to you, then why do you frequently, in many threads,
refer to her husband as "shrub?" And don't deny it, I have evidence of that ready to post.

So is het, of niet?
in South Brabant "boor" is proper.
Tot Siens!

I've read you junk before, claiming to be a "strong conservative", and taken exception with you. I take exception again.
sinator hillary! DESERVED every boo and curse she received, and should have been hit by a few rotten vegetables as well. She DESERVES no respect because she has SHOWN no respect to the country since the days she studied communism in college.
Go back to academia, you sound like a garden variety liberal professor to me.

Decline and Fall is a hilarious novel by Waugh about the trials and tribulations of an Oxford man, kicked out of his beloved college, and forced to teach at a barely respectable public school (this does not mean a state school, in England, public schools are private schools)...it is a riot.

I call President Bush, "Shrub" because I am upset at his Israel policy (along with his anti-Life stem cell research policy)...I would however never call him this to his face.....
The first lady is not an elected official however and so I do not care what her official positions on public policy are. I do care however that she is ext. supportive of this great organization (TFA is very anti union by the way)....She is a gracious lady, and I am proud to call her my first lady.

An I would add throwing very over ripe tomatoes at her tooTried once, but missed ( way back in the '70's- this note for the USSS) due to being on Miller Time at the time.

The images have to be on the web in order for you to post them, and for everyone else to view them.
To: watsonfellow
To begin with, I reject your unspoken and false premise that booing is a priori rude. It is a culturally accepted response whch has a long history and serves a definite purpose.
Secondly, these men have been through unspeakable things, and to have Hillary mock their sacrifice by turning their tribute into a slimy publicity stunt is beneath contempt. She deserved far worse than she got.
Thirdly, how the hell dare you question these men's right to respond any way they chose? What have you done with your puny life that qualifies you to sit in judgment of these men?
To: watsonfellow
"I wonder what Burke et al would have said . . ."Wasn't Burke a Member of Parliament? If so. I cannot see how he would have objected to booing, since it was an established form of showing displeasure in the House of Commons. Along with shouts of "sit down!"
To NOT boo Hillary falls under this dictum: Qui tacuit consentire videtur. Celebrities are under the impression that they will ALWAYS be applauded. We should disabuse them of this notion. Rotten vegetables would also be a useful didactic tool.

Oh! the humanity! Boo hoo hoo. Sob.
To: watsonfellow
Boooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!
To: watsonfellow
Oh, I thought it was hysterical. Did you see her waving her arms and saying "thank you" till she realized they were booing and not cheering? Then she said "thank you for being here". The look on her face was priceless! Sorry, but she would have construed silence as interest in what she was saying. You are forgetting with whom we are dealing.
To: watsonfellow
I call President Bush, "Shrub" because I am upset at his Israel policy (along with his anti-Life stem cell research policy)...I would however never call him this to his face..... Are you aware that it was Molly Ivins, the fake Texan leftist, who coined the denigrating "Shrub"? And for someone who is preaching civility, showing disrespect to our president by calling him "Shrub" is a bit disingenous, to say the least.
