Well, he may welcome Sontag's comments, but they come only after she has experienced a terrifying rejection and repudiation of her previous whinings. She and her associates on the left are moral lepers who will go back to their hate - america shtick as soon as they think it is safe.

I agree with you completely! She was expecting a chorus of agreement from the cowardly left who are now keeping a low-profile because of President Bush's 90% approval rating, so she had to backtrack and "re-explain" her position.

At least Andrew Sullivan had the courage to call her on it. Otherwise, I doubt there would have been any "re-explaining."

It seems like the only wussie left is John Mellencamp.
He must be real tired of being a country singer. There is no way this paragraph from the Sunday Times Story on the Concert for NY will go down well with country fans.
