I think Jim (JHavard) told me someone here called him that once also. I guess they just call that part of their "tradition".

I don't remember being involved there... but I'm certain I wouldn't put up with someone calling another Christian an A##$ole.

But I also reject your premise. If one of you tells me to "eat s$%t", I will feel he is childish, and I may treat him appropriately. Similar language when referring to the Savior is not within several orders of magnitude. I'm dissapointed with your response - your acting like the liberals jumping to defend Clinton's actions by pointing at Newt as being just as bad - now see... that's an offensive statement that stays on this side of the line.

(JHavard - I hope I'm not making myself a hypocrite here - is there a comparison to my reaction to the "finger thing")

And to All:

Sorry everyone. No more holy crap.

At the same time, am I to assume the argument for 'blessed' relics has been run through with 30 pounds of steal.

Not with him on this one. Just pointing out your silence when it happens on the other side. And, yes, you were around. Wasn't that long ago.

LOL..I think the why is this discussion painfull question has been amply answered.

I actually agree with Havoc's point though.....it was very descriptive and the real pity is that he needs to go to such lengths to get it across....but he certainly DID get it across.

God bless all and God bless America.

"I'm not on your "team", but I welcome you to the group."

Thanks for the welcome but as far as which team I'm on....I'm part of the church and so are you aren't you? Are you assigning me my place in a division? I said in my first post I was an atheist, but I'm obviously not one now, what makes you think I am in opposition to you? God bless

Go look back in the 20's and 30's. I've been called more things than that. And not for the type of post you just witnessed from me. I don't generally get that Graphic. But, in anger some of us do things we may not intend. Believe me, I was only trying to make a point - not offend. If I wanted to offend I could have probably come up with far more creative than that post; but, that's not me.

I don't understand name calling at all. I understand labels, which are not always intended as a swipe but many times are regarded as such. One can say another is ignorant . And while merely intending to say they don't know their subject, it can be taken to mean they are a foolish moron. It may not be what was intended; but, that's how it gets read.

But are you part of "The Church"? To most of them there is a big difference and they don't even accept your definition of the true church.

By the way, there's an unwritten rule on these threads that we not compare one another to the "C" word. There are plenty of other analogies you could make.

Not what I meant... I don't read every post (who could if (s)he actually has a job, kids. etc...).

If it makes you feel better. I totally reject the use of the term for use in reference to any other person (happy).

Now can we talk about the glaring difference between the two? Here's a hint for you: Define "Sacrilege"

One secular dictionary definition - "gross irreverence toward a hallowed person". Got one that would exempt poor my Havoc & his holy cat?

You're gonna find out real quick you are an "invincibly ignorant separated brother".

Agreed :-)

I would, however, ask you to compare it to the topic at hand?

Which part of "I am not with him on this one" don't you understand?

Yeah, right.

Just remember, you can't be forgiven yourself if you don't forgive others.

The part where you say "No different than SoothingDave calling him an ---hole." You really don't see a difference, do you.

I can forgive him for doing it but still not believe he never intended offense.

Unfortunately I've seen and heard enough to know exactly what you are talking about. However,in the end we are going to see for ouselves who is free and who has the comfort of God and who hasn't.Anyone who is bluffing is going to be found out.

I know where I stand and what I stand on.

As I've said...I first read the bible as an atheist and from what I've seen of religion in general I'm actually thankfull I had no church upbringing.

It was enough that I came out of the cult of the world with the ton of baggage that needed (and still needs) getting rid of let alone another ton of baggage from sitting in church thinking I already believe and know the truth.

Amazing the things you see and hear in church when you first come as an outsider.

God bless all
