Occassionally Andrew Sullivan hits the nail on the head. This is one of those times.

If a conservative is a lefty who has been mugged, and you apply this analogy to the WTO air bombs, forget it! The left is not fickle to its idiocy. Stalin killed 7 million Kulaks in the Ukraine in the 30's and the New York Times gave its commie apologist reporter, Walter Duranty, a Pulitzer. The Spanish civil war and the "Lincoln Brigade" is still remembered fondly by these clowns. The isolationist movement of the US communist party prior to Hitler's invasion of the USSR and the call to arms after are more examples that if you think the left in this country is going to change you are as foolish as those who still love "Bill the Pill" and the Bity Clinton. "The poor will be always be with you"...as will the idiot left.

"But in a country with a First Amendment, no suppression from government is likely, and in the citadels of the media and the academy, the far left is actually vastly overrepresented."
GAME, SET, and MATCH!!!
Finally, the TRUTH of the left, from the left, is spoken!!!

Yesss, but now they are exposed, their flank is weak, and it is time to go in for the kill.

Go to www.andrewsullivan.com. I'm trying to make it link, but either things are running slowly here, or I'm doing something wrong. I'm new at this posting business.

"One of the overlooked aspects of the war we are now fighting is the awakening it has spawned on the left. In one atrocity, Osama bin Laden may have accomplished what a generation of conservative writers have failed to do: convince mainstream liberals of the illogic and nihilism of the powerful postmodern left." This is a 'great' piece, IMHO, though I will say that Andrew Sullivan and I probably don't think alike that often.

Finally, we have a war that threatens the anti-war crowd. The odds are probably 50/50 that any terrorist attack on the United States will kill people on the left at least as frequently as it will kill people on the right. Where do they run to? Canada?
Who is willing to bet that tens of thousands of protesters will show up at the Pentagon, as they did throughout the Vietnam war? One of the most dependable traits of the left is their risk aversion. If not, how do we explain the tort lawyers? Is it more dangerous to smoke a cigarette, engage in risky sex, or sit next to a terrorist on an airplane?

"Is it more dangerous to smoke a cigarette, engage in risky sex, or sit next to a terrorist on an airplane?" If one loves 'freedom', sitting next to the terrorist is the least dangerous, IMHO. Pretty much equal if it's earthly life you love. Time is the 'variable', but who wants to be a 'Dead Man Walking'?

Sullivan said out loud what we know and that is excellent to read...this is the part that really gets me excited:
Far from concealing this ideological bankruptcy, we need to expose it and condemn it as widely and as irrevocably as we can. Many liberals are already listening and watching--and the tectonic plates of politics are shifting as they do.
