Actually he is a writer. His Strategy and Management was almost bankrupt years ago. He likes the so-called "pure literature", which is not popular in the Chinese young generation. Sometimes he talks about individual rights or democracy, while he claims he's a true nationlist. I'll comment on the article later.

Since the 1990s, one of the main choices of the Chinese youths after graduation has been to go to America. This kind of persistence gives the impression that they would rather break pots and sell scrap - even lose everything - provided they can go to America. The New Oriental School in Beijing has become world famous for supplying training in English, and this spring the number of applications far exceeded recruiting quotas. The leaders of the party and government took it as a great privilege to make a trip to America. The present supreme leader of China, Jiang Zemin, was been very close to then president Bill Clinton. He, as well as a number of Chinese, must have taken as a great honor the "partnership" with "my friend Bill, the Overlord of the world".

The article is too long, so I can't comment on it sentence by sentence. The facts are almost accurate, but the opinions are very personal, may not reflect the point of view of the general public.

There is no such thing as the pie getting bigger, it is either my pie or your pie Perhaps an artifact of 50+ years of Communism, where this is pretty much the case? Maybe with the embrace of a certain level of capitalism, they will begin to learn / are learning that you can grow the pie. This is key to long term Chinese prosperity.
Thanks for the bump on your post, super175. Keep me on your list.

What outsiders need to understand is that China is a country whose power is monopolized by one party; the Chinese government cannot represent the interests of the whole Chinese people; the actions of the Chinese government are uncertain and cannot be trusted. It is so difficult to talk with the Chinese government, let alone quarrel. Japan is quarrelsome on economic issues, but it is trustworthy politically. China is different, as it can turn hostile on political issues in the blink of an eye, though economically it has done so many favors to the US. From the viewpoint of the international society, China is a barbaric rogue state. Well, leave the Chinese alone under tyranny ... This is what I mean by tragedy.I drink for that!

The fundamental issue is this: if you can't govern yourselves according to rightful moral principles, then you can't be trusted with great power. That's it. It's that simple.Good point. 3 thousand years ago tribal goverments in China also enphasised on "Work FOR the people", "Take care People like you do to your own CHILDREN"!

The facts are almost accurate, but the opinions are very personal, may not reflect the point of view of the general public. It does not reflect the point of view of ALL CCP. It does refect the view of 50+ years old intellectuals.

>>It does refect the view of 50+ years old intellectuals.
Maybe, but I would add "some" before "50+ years old intellectuals".

Humans worship their frontal-lobe, but live most of their lives in their spine.
Ever since the communication revolution, borders mean less and less to those in it's grip.
Governments (and corps) are simply proxies for systems of thought, as acted upon by a group of people.
These systems of thoughts spill through lines of communications.
Systems of thought that overwrite others or kill their hosts, succeed.
America's system of thought is balanced on a knifes edge.
America's system is one primarily of efficiencies of scale. That's why it works.
Well, mostly. Democracy is a "forensic" system. It punishes the victim.
Less laws, hope everyone behaves for the most part, and prosecute the (hopefully) small number of offenders.
Ahhh, there's the rub.
American's for the most part, believe in a God, of some brand or other.
This built-in mental cop says, "Do good, cause there's Hell to pay otherwise"
Our Deist (not really Christian, go look it up) Founding Fathers knew this
when they built the system. Hence the no established religion kind of thing.
But the Generic God, that, for a very long time, was woven into the fabric of the system, began to fade.
It's behavioral component was weighted less, and less.
Balance this with the Islamic system of thought, and the Communist system of thought.
These 3 systems are mutually exclusive, thus guaranteed strife.
We are approaching the collapse brought about by the communication revolution. Culture being washed out.
Being brought down to some saddle point. No longer can the American
system of thought depend on God, and look what happens in our corps and govt.
Do whatever you can get away with. Hey, that sounds just like China!
Except, they didn't start with the God complex.
There is no happy end to this story. And yes, despite the cloying doomsday ringing, really will happen.
It's the nature of complex systems with finite resources.
