To put it in perspective: That's about 4-10X (I've seen various figuress...) of the explosive power of one of the WTC jets.

Oh, it would be nasty, all right-- assuming the thing detonated at full yield as-designed, and lack of maintenance and rebuilding makes that somewhat iffy. No argument, really: I would not welcome one of these in my neighborhood. But, from what I've read (and no, I have not witnessed that much TNT going off and hope never to), these are on a par with the WTC event; maybe somewhat worse, if their yield has not declined over time. One way or another, a suitcase nuke does portend a regional cataclysm over vast areas, as an ICBM-borne city-buster warhead would. They are more surgical.
