Unfortunately the people there are morally deprived. There are some great Californians though. Just not enough of them.

I bet they turn down anti-semitic and racist literature for the library. Why would you allow access to child porn in the library?

Obviously, I agree with you about free republic!
I am talking about visuals here. Most libraries have their monitors in clear view of anyone of whatever age passing by. One would not want to be assaulted by some of the images on the web. Too the librarians deserve a break! Most libraries are understaffed and the staff that is there shouldn't have to deal with the jerks that pull up porn on top of everything else!
I believe librarians in Minneapolis (or somewhere up there) actually won a lawsuit with their admin. over this. Of course the administration was against any sort of filtering and expected staff to deal with all sorts of situations including semen at the terminals!
