Does anyone else find using the message of a commie peacenik foriegner to honor Americans slaughtered by our enemies as deeply offensive as I do??? Maybe they'll play some patriotic Lennon tunes like Back in the USSR to help us 'heal'.

Did you see the losers who are scheduled to perform? Alanis Morisette, Moby? Anti-American peacenik freaks. You know that at the end they are all going to sing "Give Peace a Chance" and hold hands while we all gag.

Firstly I think you will find Lennon was a nationalized American citizen. Second , as far as I'm aware he never claimed to be a communist, and thirdly while some err on the side of peace, better that than to err on the side of war. There is no such thing as a good war or a bad peace... or so someone once said.

Hmmmm...It must have been Neville Chamberlain.

Fourthly, Paul McCartney wrote Back in the USSR, not Lennon. Lennon did, however, write Happiness is a Warm Gun, which makes a nice counterpoint to Give Peace a Chance.

Yep. I'm getting sick already.

Think they'll all sing it from a giant matteress with tamborines?

Anyone in doubt about the intent of this little gathering tonight ought to do a search for the thread about Moby last week. Remember Alanis Morisette (Canadian) screaching about how the US shouldn't drill for oil in Alaska? These losers are acting just like Clinton trying to capitalize (sp?) off of a tragedy.

Atlantis Morrisette should donate all the oil from her hair if she doesn't want drilling.

He became a citizen so he wouldn't have to pay the high British taxes. then he went on to tell all of us Americans that we should spend our taxes on welfare programs. I dispised him though I loved the early Beatles music.

It's good that someone else noticed this. I saw a commercial for it and thought the same thing.

Actually, I think it was that noted peacenik Benjamin Franklin.

It's time we GIVE WAR A CHANCE (which I think was the title of a P.J. O'Rourke book)

Now, am I the only one that remembers the version of that song ("Give Peace a Chance") that was done by Yoko and her doofus, semi-literate son Sean just in time for the Gulf War?

Anyone wanna bet they'll both be there? Screeching and banging on instruments with all the musical talent of a gang of retarded chimps?

Yes, thank God! I am so glad I have no recollection at all of that, but I do not doubt it happened. I am sure that other radio stations have been doing this too, but in Chicago we have had a bunch of stations taking patriotic rock songs and putting President Bush's speechs over them, like Jimi Hendrix "Freedom". If they did stuff like that I would watch.

Though no fan of the garbage that will be spewed in his honor on Oct. 2, I was a huge fan of Lennon. And although he often spoke of "world" peace, consider these lines from Revolution #1:

You say you got a real solution
Well you know
we'd all love to see the plan
You ask me for a contribution
Well you know
We're doing what we can
But when you want money for people with minds that hate
All I can tell you is brother you have to wait
Don't you know it's gonna be alright
Alright Alright

You say you'll change the constitution
Well you know
we all want to change your head
You tell me it's the institution
Well you know
You better free your mind instead
But if you go carrying pictures of Chairman Mao
You ain't going to make it with anyone anyhow
Don't you know know it's gonna be alright
Alright Alright

It is my hope that as Mr. Lennon lived longer among us and as his children grew older he might have come to realize the old adage:

If when you are young and not a liberal, you have no heart - If when you are older and not a conservative you have no brain.
