Real men define manhood for themselves. They don't give a damn what anyone else has to say about it.

West Point official on 60 Minutes last night: "The last thing we want are Rambos"

Swagger is for closet sissies. Combat is for adults who don't let airheads define their manhood.

I agree with you. I think we are being linguistically lazy here, in the injudicious use of the word 'sensitive'. We really mean 'wimpy'. I am a very sensitive man. I would however, dive in front of a bullet headed for anybody. Even Clinton. It's just my way.

This nonsense about real men not crying, or having lots of chest hair, is just that. Nonsense. I am genetically predisposed to having almost no chest hair. I'm 29 years old. So again, to be more accurate, it is not the lack of chest hair that makes a man less of a man -- rather it is the lack of metaphorical 'chest hair', if you catch my drift. That is to say, lack of guts.

I would venture to guess that many, many of our nation's finest have bawled like babies when holding the dying remains of a fallen friend in the trenches of WWII. And I do not judge these men for crying one bit. Anyone who risks his life to preserve the quality, and indeed, the existence, of mine, without knowing me, gets one huge benefit of the doubt.

I suspect the vast majority of freepers agree with me. I was not quarreling with the sentiments expressed, but merely urging a little more exactness in semantics.

In short, down with wimpy men. For that matter, down with wimpy women, too! Being female, IMHO, doesn't exonerate you from having courage. But again, I'm preaching to the choir on this board. I'm glad to be among so many level-headed people here on Free Republic.

Ugg, that was a visual!

Natural is fine and dandy. It's the shaved chest that has the wierdness meter going off the scale. ;-)

You are naive to think that not wishing to own a gun and wanting to destroy Second Amendment rights are the same thing.

Not wishing to own a gun is one thing; thinking that all guns are evil is quite another.

An all-too-common extension of that idea is that, since guns are evil, nobody should own one.

I got quite a giggle when I looked at your profile. What fun the last picture is. Clymer indeed! The other pictures are breath taking. Thank you for the tour!

No, you're not preaching to the choir! I'm giving blood next Tuesday and I'm scared to death! I'm not a "crier" by nature, but I'm afraid I may loose it when they stick me!

Real Men don't give a flying f*ck what the worthless piece of trash the author says!

We do our own thing, we don't give a damn' what some miss-priss has to say about it, and any limp-wristed "sensitive" man that gets in our way is gonna get their ass kicked.

Real Men ... stand up and be counted!

"Danny Boy's a few french fries short of a happy meal anyhow"

Yeah good old "Captain Dan the Newsman!" I will always hold Britt Hume of Fox in high esteem for that comment.

One of the most poignant pictures from the Gulf War was a soldier in full blown grief because his buddy had been killed. It still brings tears to my eyes. Of course men cry!
