And a hearty welcome aboard to you as well. Yes, some of the people on this site are a bit weird. In any community this large (2,000 people post here every day), you're bound to get a few ... uhhhh, "eccentrics." Yeah, that's a good word to use.

As the premier conservative discussion site on the Net, we are a target for left-wing fringe-dwelling flame trolls and as a result, some of us who are otherwise quite normal are a bit cautious regarding newbies.

I'll let my words speak for themselves. Can't wait for the next test.

You just passed it. Some of us who live in more remote parts of the world will only know you through your writing. I enjoy the discussions here even though I don't agree with every opinion. Your posts are valuable, take pride in them.

I've said it before here. In my youth, I actually voted for Jimmy Carter. It was a reaction to my being incensed that Ford pardoned Nixon. Nixon abused the office and fortunately did the right thing by resigning. My first vote was for Nixon.

I've confessed to my family's Democratic history several times on these threads. My parents were proud UAW members and both of them served on the precinct committee. Before them, all four of my grandparents came over from Europe a little over 100 years ago and worked in New York for a machine called Tammany Hall. After a few decades, both sides of the family moved to Chicago and worked for a machine called Daley.

The first presidential candidate I supported was, by some strange coincidence, named George. His last name was McGovern. Fortunately, as the Democratic Party adopted homosexual rights, the disarming of law-abiding citizens so that they can become the defenseless victims of violent crime, the right to murder unborn children for the sake of convenience, and affirmative action quotas as the cornerstones of the party platform, our entire family poured into the Republican Party. In addition to being proud UAW members, Mom and Dad were also proud NRA members and proud members of a good old-fashioned Christian church.

Thank you so much! You have absolutely no idea how much that means to me. Once I read novels, now all I read is FR.

You know of course this list is incomplete. But then if you typed it ALL out, JimRob would lose all his server space.

I dunno Doug.

As a former newbie, I came to this site as a conservative, but uneducated. For example, I once thought gun control was a good idea - but I hadn't really thought why - I only listened to what the media said. I received quite an education after joining the Free Republic.

Take it easy on newbies that reply to posted articles. Think of the Free Republic as the hospital that cures sick minds.

On the other hand, I have no use for newbies who post vanities. Come to Free Republic with a sense of humility.

If any of you newbies deny any of the above, I don't want to talk to you. I don't want to read what you write. I don't want you for a friend. I don't want you for a neighbor. I don't even want you in my country. You are part of the problem.

Doug, I feel the same way. I've got to work on easing up on this attitude around my family, though. I didn't get to choose them!

What name is given to a newbie once they graduate? --- Why, FReeper, of course.

There really ought to be an intermediate stage between "newbie" and "Freeper"--something like "Freepling".

"Freeper" would seem to connote someone who freeps or has freeped. It seems to me someone ought to have participated in one or more freeps before one can be considered a true Freeper.

Your posts in #1 and #11 don't agree. Make up your mind. Slick was (and is) a useless piece of ---- but he wasn't convicted of several of your questions. Get off your high horse.

Welcome to FR. I am the son of a Korean War vet and nephew of three WWII vets. All Air Force, all combat aircrew, two Purple Hearts.

Thank you for the welcome, Bryan. I'll bet your father and your uncles have some interesting stories to tell! Bravery and honor must run in the family!

Bryan, You and I have had quite a few discussions here and I've always enjoyed your ability to defend your position. However, I just discovered that one of the thing you told me isn't true.

You told me that liberals were welcome here - I just found out that is not true. While I've refrained from the name calling that many Freepers have rained down on me apparently being a Liberal that can defend your liberal beliefs is definitely something not welcome here.
From now on you'll have to send your replies to bouncer@cpcug.net because, despite what you've been told - having a Liberal opinion here is NOT welcome. It only buys you this:

I'll miss some of the Freepers here (like you) who have an honest opinion and are willing to go back and forth. Just don't ever belive that this is a FreeRepublic, it's definitely not Free at all. To paraphrase Jack Nicholson, there are some here who "can't handle the truth" (present company excepted of course).

PWL (aka Bouncer)

P.S. - To those Freepers who requested Help looking for a job, if I have already responded to you privately via Email, I promise I'll follow up with the information you requested by tomorrow. You already have my Email address so we should be able to help you out despite this little bump in the road.

At least you didn't require them to be Christian, bible-quoting people.

You know, I think it would be an idea if a second tier forum were introduced at FR so we don't get spammed by mindless commentary from newcomers looking to vent. The criteria would be simple...if you've been on FR as long as I have then you get to post and read. If you got here a day later, you get to read but not post.

Well, ok, maybe not the three years I've been kicking around...but say two years? An extended period for those who have been banned but permitted to return? Comments? Suggestions? Jim?

I don't require them to be anything. If anyone still misses the point of this post, some of us don't want to engage in discussion and waste our time with people who come here after drinking DNC Kool-Aide. If others want to play with them, they are free to do so. I want to smoke them out right away and help alert others to the time wasters.

I'm willing to go back and forth, at least for awhile. But I have no patience with those who have just closed their eyes and denied everything. If someone cannot admit that Scumbag committed perjury, we have nothing to discuss.
