No flames here my man, and not neccessarily an ally either. Just wanted to make the point of our last "Brush with "Terrorism"...
I'm sure most on this thread were not, or are not aware of the past terrorist bills that were passed in the GOP led congress. Not a single line of text in those bills stopped what happened here on the 11th. But, no law abiding citizen can aquire certain weapons any more.
The article above is BS, but the errosion of our rights for security is a reality. Bit by bit, little by little...I guess I need some foil too aye??

Yes. And had allied leaders played their cards right, they could have manipulated the same situation between the Nazis and the Soviets in the 30's. Harry Truman is supposed to have said, concerning such a missed opportunity, "...and we would have aided whichever side was losing at the moment".
To: Clinton's a liar
You didn't read his column or my response, apparently. If you did, you have a terrible problem with reading comprehension. Try to argue with what I said rather than with what you wish I had said.

The Right Of The People To Keep And Bear Arms Shall Not Be Infringed!!
An Armed Citizen, Is A Safe Citizen!!
No Guns, No Rights!!

I appreciate all of your comments on this thread. I'm hopeful that the vigilance=treason mentality will soon die down.

Jim,
Pacifism is durable due to its malleability; at the risk of mixing metaphors, the willow bends while the oak thunders to the ground, groaning in its desperate struggle all the while.
America has grown fat since the success of its earlier wars against tyranny and insidious influence; we have embraced nonsensical notions such as multicultural egalitarianism, while slumbering slovenly on our Serta Sleepers purchased on the installment plan, we are now more underbelly than backbone.
Standing on our hind legs will prove difficult enough, shaking off the sleep that clouds our eyes collected over these 50 years in order to focus on the enemy both within and without so as to move against those who've so callously disturbed our rest will take giant steps, we dare not stumble.
Prudence ought always temper passion; but when the way is clear, it is time to press on to the end, we may never rest so easily again.

Wait until the demand for a declaration of war is really pressed in Congress. Part of the deal from the left side of the aisle will be a demand for another Sedition Act as a price for agreement to declaring war. You can bet on that. The traitors will want cover in time of war, when the price of treason is to be paid at the end of a rope. They'll want any criticism of government suppressed so that evidence of what they've done can't be used to get them out of office. I'm not certain I understand what you think "the left side of the aisle" has done. Support for open borders and Muslim "freedom frighters" has not come primarily from the left. (BTW, same goes for our policies with regard to China.)

I recently read the book "Creature from Jekyll Island" by G.E. Griffin about the Federal Reserve. That is where I read an account of the affair of the Lusitania. According to Griffin, the captain of the Lusitania survived and gave the information on how the ship was deliberatly set up.

I do not apologize for my screen name. If you're too sensitive to deal with it, write the management. The only people who have complained about my nick are those that are either anti-war socialist leftists or overly paranoid tin foil right wing extremists who do not agree with me. Either way, I'm not moved to change anything. I'll modify opinion with logical thoughtful discussion, but otherwise you may whine away.
To: Twodees
There's a big difference between loyalty to country and letting politicians get by with wiping their backsides on the Constitution to cover their own treason. Rare is it that so much is said with such clarity and brevity.
To: Tauzero
Well, goes both ways. If Lew Rockwell, et al, think that I or a majority of the FReepers are FOR national ID cards, they're nuts. We are for the Constitution and our individual rights. That's the whole purpose of Free Republic. But we are also going to defend our nation and we are going to defend our fighting men and women and we are going to do whatever we can to defend our citizens at home. And, no, we do not believe that you can pacify the terorrists or the governments that harbor them. They must be rooted out and destroyed.

I'm hopeful that the vigilance=treason mentality will soon die down. Me too. The atmosphere around here is eerily reminiscent of the post MFJ bloodbath. Some of the names have changed, but the "beat and crush anyone who dares to question anything we say" mentality is just the same, and more easily justified within our new state of "war."
To: ThomasJefferson
Oh, and I've never been banned. So please if you're going to attack me, be accurate. And if this nick gets banned, have no fear, your opinions are muted bye the solid middle which supports the war effort now, and thankfully at that.
To: Nuke'm Glowing
If you had to choose, which would you choose, Freedom or security? Would you put your Freedom in the hands of people you don't know just because they say the things you want to hear?
