The more I read of this stuff, the more difficult it is for me not to take a whip to anyone who calls themself reverand or pastor or whatever.

Well, everybody's a damn theologian, aren't they! But watch yourself, because they're here as well; I just got off a thread where a reincarnated Saint Augustine's (or so he thought himself to be, I surmise) response to a wholly secular and polite debate was "You keep your Godless crap. I will stay a Christian.". It made just as much sense as the above diatribe. Oh boy...

This has got to be the longest post ever posted on FR. At least it's the longest that I've ever seen all on one post!

I don't think that we missed the message tonight, and I don't think Osama and the Taleban missed the message tonight either. The message was loud and clear - Justice is coming, and hell's coming with him!

The Lord God struck down 185,000 Assyrians in one day - when He was entreated and honored. He can and will do the same for the U.S. - when He is entreated and honored.

Go back and read this again, then, please. The writer is arguing that we SHOULD NOT put our faith in "a god of fortresses", but rather repent before God in all due humbleness.

Tonight's speech by Bush was good, but he missed the mark on one critical thing we must do as a nation - what we should have done ever since God let this happen to us (and it may not have been God's will that we suffer, but He would allow Satan to do this, if we needed it): fall on our faces before Him.

Without that, Bush's speech might as well have been to a concrete wall.

He didn’t know he was quoting from Revelation 18:10, “…Alas, alas, that great city Babylon, that mighty city! for in one hour is thy judgment come.”

PLEASE, PLEASE, STOP this misinterpretation of the Bible to suit yor self righteous agenda. It only highlights your ignorance.

NYC is NOT Babylon! It NEVER has been! This is just the latest theory amongst the "tossed to and fro" crowd.

Since you buy into this nonsense then you need to justify why this is soi using Scripture. You can't because it's not true and your false premise defeats the rest of your bogus self righteous argument.

Such controversy....

Changing the subject...A few days before the Towers, I had a dream that I was preparing to attend a huge wedding, I was so busy trying to prepare and so many people were trying to distract me and the more they distracted me the more anxious I became to get there...I got into my car to go and I was being chased by others to keep me from arriving..I became more determined until I finally arrived at the wedding...Once there, I looked down on myself and found I had not properly dressed for the occasion and I had also brought two small gifts with me and the usher looked at them and smiled and said these two gifts will not be aloud, for they were puny to him...

As believers it is time to examine ourselves honestly.

"The more I read of this stuff, the more difficult it is for me not to take a whip to anyone who calls themself reverand or pastor or whatever."

That's nice of you.

Meanwhile, it might be good to keep in mind that Wilkerson has been very prominent in the AOG -- the same denomination that Ashcroft belongs to -- for nearly half a century. He is far from "fringe".

He showed up in NYC back then, and started "Teen Challenge", which was the first drug treatment program that had results. The city worked with him because of that, and he and his organization became very well known in "those circles".

While I never met him, I did attend the church (Glad Tidings Tabernacle on 34th St.) that launched him on his mission, and I was baptized there in the late 1960s. And, I did volunteer work in a couple of Teen Challenge "Christian Coffee Houses" during that period.

And, a late friend of mine, Bob Combs, who went on the become Professor of Photojournalism at CBNU before he died, was commissioned to do a "coffee table" book -- a photo essay -- on Teen Challenge.

The point of all this rambling is that DW is quite "mainstream" in the AOG and similar denominations, and, he's got a track record of doing genuine "good stuff". He's not a Jerry Falwell type who's in love with the TV cameras, so he's not very well known outside those circles.

But, you can bet your bottom dollar that Ashcroft's heard of him -- and may very well know him. (And he almost certainly respects him.)

DW is not some Robert Tiltonesque huckster, he's someone who is taken very seriously by a lot of mainstream folks.

So, you may want to take a whip to him, but you might want to mull over what, if any, influence his words are having on the current adminstration via the Attorney General.

What the U.S. and the rest of the Christian world should do is this:

2Chr.7:14:

[14] If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

The above is not ONLY for the U.S. but for ALL Christians all over the world.

It would be to your advantage to read Revelation rather than just posting someone elses misguided views that suit your agenda. Revelation is the only book that if read, gives you a blessing>

Revelation 1:3:

[3] Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time is at hand.

Becareful what you write about this Book:

Revelation 22:18-20:

[18] For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall ADD unto these things, God shall ADD unto him the plagues that are written in this book:

[19] And if any man shall TAKE AWAY from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall TAKE AWAY his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.

[20] He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus.

STOP posting nonsense as Biblical prophecy!

"NYC is NOT Babylon! It NEVER has been! This is just the latest theory amongst the "tossed to and fro" crowd."

Ditto. I'm getting sick and tired of "replacement theology." The replacement theologians call the Christian (predominantly gentile) church "Israel," then - of course - want to appropriate the promises to Israel, but of course none of the judgements. And of course, America is "Babylon."

It is a self-centered, myopic view that believes God's dealings with man began with 20th century Christians. Not only that, but it utterly ignores the fact that the Book of Revelation is based on O.T. books like Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel, Amos, and especially Daniel, to name a few. In fact, if you look at Daniel 12 compared to Revelation 12, they look almost like a thought-for-thought transcription!

We are living in God's dispensation of GRACE, and I'm becoming increasingly convinced that during this period of GRACE, God will withold judgement until He pours it out during the Great Tribulation, which is called the time of "Jacob's Trouble" (Jeremiah.)

The next judgement to befall mankind from God will come then, and the Final judgement will come at the "Great White Throne Judgement," at the end of the age.

These attacks were the result of man's free - if evil - will towards other men. They did not come from God, and I wish so-called pastors would stop presuming to speak for God on this score. They are libeling Him.

One network anchorman said this, and I quote him, “Just think of it. Our two symbols of power and prosperity have been smitten in one hour.”

He didn’t know he was quoting from Revelation 18:10, “…Alas, alas, that great city Babylon, that mighty city! for in one hour is thy judgment come.”

Really? I see no resemblance between these two quotes, except fot the word hour!!

“Just think of it. Our two symbols of power and prosperity have been smitten in one hour.”

Revelation 18:10, “…Alas, alas, that great city Babylon, that mighty city! for in one hour is thy judgment come.”

I suggest that Iraq is Babylon, and it refers to them. For if you think that the US is more G-dless than the terrorists, I think you are mistaken. But, if you want to judge yourself that way, go right ahead!

"As believers it is time to examine ourselves honestly."

Indeed you should!

Start with reading the Bible in it's proper context. Look up the Greek and Hebrew and you won't have a "controversy" on what to believe. The blessing for the rest of us would be not to see nonsense posted as Biblical truth.

I'm glad that you brought Satan up. I have heard over and over again about God allowing this tragedy to happen. I've been waiting and wondering why people aren't talking about Satan's part in this, because he most certainly played a role in this.

I believe this is our final wake up call and I pray that Americans will continue to pray and to be patriotic.

Well, If you had read the entire post you would have realized that is what the author is saying. Repentance is not a bad word...I do not believe that the author by quoting Rev 18 actually said he believed that is what happened in NY...He seemed to find it ironic that the newsman would speak words along those lines. If you do not believe what has happened is a wake up call for repentance and self examination then just move on.

I agree! That's why I quoted some Scripture to this "tossed and fro" gal to STOP doing the Scripture twist. There is also a penalty for doing that and I included that for her convenience.

All this posted article and poster of the thread proved is this:

Hosea 4:6

[6] My people are destroyed for LACK OF KNOWLEDGE: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children.
