Thank you for the great news, MadIvan! I'd like to see the wording on the poll that could reconcile these statements, though:

"Only three per cent of the public believe America and its allies should refrain from military strikes in response to last week's attacks and only four per cent think Britain should distance itself completely from the US. According to the poll, 70 per cent say that military action should be taken against countries believed to be helping America's terrorist enemies, with 20 per cent disagreeing."

By the first representation, 97% support military strikes! LOL

It sounds good, but that little thing about a protracted war and heavy casualties really gets me. We may indeed have heavy casualties, and if we do, is that gonna end it? What type of terrorist attacks will it take before these whimps are willing to take casualties in order to take these thugs out?

Yep, I can see it now, you must stop, it is costing too much, then we will have another terrorist attack and it will be, "Why didn't you take them out? I thought we declared a war on terrorism?"

Catch 22 big time, I just hope our governments can keep it going until it is finished. Cross my fingers anyway...

Ah, the reason for the confusion is that there is a distinction between people believing Britain should take part in a military action and people who believe there ought to be military action at all. 70 percent of Britons believe Britain should be involved in any military action. 97% believe that the little bastards ought to be hit!
