I'm working. I'll be back!
You and I have a rendezvous with destiny. We will preserve for our children this, the last best hope of man on earth, or we will sentence them to take the first step into a thousand years of darkness. If we fail, at least let our children and our children's children say of us we justified our brief moment here. We did all that could be done. - Ronald Reagan

It may be none of my business, BUT, it might be helpful to understand how much it actually costs to run the site, how much is paid by advertisers (if any), how much has already been donated and what the actual need is. (i.e. have a specific goal and update us on progress towards that goal as the days go by) I for one would consider donating, but I don't want to send $5 dollars if the need is $1Million, nor do I want to fund a non-profit running a surplus. Don't get me wrong, I love freerepublic.com, but as a non-profit counting on donations, the more disclosure the better. If it was a business and you charged a subscription rate (which also would not be a bad idea) how much would it cost per person to keep the site alive? Have you considered charging subscriptions and only allowing paid subscribers to post (but allow free reading?). Just curious..again, not really any of my business.

WHERE WOULD YOU GET YOUR NEWS FROM IF FREEREPUBLIC WASN'T HERE? I'd call Jim Robinson at his house and I'd say, "Hey, JimBo, what's happenin?"
He'd probably tell me. And then I'd hang up.

I can't imagine life without FR. Simply cannot, especially in view of recent events!
I wish I could challenge people with money, but our humble contribution has been sent. So let me just challenge everyone to consider what our lives would be like WITHOUT FR and give till you can't give any more!

OK, that helps, but IF you were a business, and given how many subscribers you have, how much would each need to pay in order to keep a float? It sounds like the need is around $100K annually...how many regular readers and or posters are on-line? Also, I assume donations are not tax-deductible?
