Oh, come now. Surely you have some logical explanation, don't you? You wouldn't be suggesting that we give up rights without at least some logical explanation to justify it?
I'm very receptive to logic and reason, even to that with which I disagree. If you've got some to back up national ID cards, I'm listening.
As I said, light cannot penetrate that far. It seems to have escaped your attention that this nation is at war.
And
What I'm looking for here is some explanation, some mechanism of how national ID cards will help. If I'm expected to get one, I deserve an explanation of exactly why, and most importantly exactly what they will accomplish.
"Because we're at war" isn't satisfactory. Not even close.
My thanks also goes to Mr. CWOJackson for his service, even though he doesn't appreciate the liberty he is supposed to be defending.
What are you suggesting? Is it okay with you to provide your personal information to an airline? Profiling is fine if done by a private company? You're comfortable with your information stored in some database for airlines to access and share? What would stop the airlines from sharing that information with whomever they choose? What else are you willing to give up in order to feel safe?
Just some initial questions.
And yet all you have done here is demand that we surrender them without a second thought, without even getting a satisfactory explanation of what we will get in return. Go figure.
You don't preserve freedom by destroying it. It is theorized that we can ensure our safety by giving up freedom (I strongly disagree). Even if this were true, would what is left be worth defending? There are plenty of other nations that aren't free. I wouldn't lift a finger to defend them. Why should I care a bit about ours if it is no longer free?
My loyalty lies not in the flag, or a nation, or in any government, but to liberty itself. A nation without liberty is no more worth defending than Cuba, China or Singapore, nations I regard with the utmost contempt.
You are way out of line here. How dare you mock this man's service? You should be ashamed of yourself for such comments. Let the forum be your judge.
I personally find great comfort in that many of those in our armed forces value liberty. You strike me as quite the opposite, the type that would give all the wrong answers in the 29 Palms survey.
Perhaps a biological attack on Kansas foiled. Perhaps early warning of a terrorist attack at a baseball stadium. Perhaps we prevent a cruise ship from being hijacked and the passengers killed. Perhaps victory with minimum loss of U.S. lives at home.
These might not be satisfactory explanations for you, but perhaps these measures will even save some paranoids so they can continue their complaining.
That would be great. But how would a national ID accomplish this?
I see a glaring hole in the logic here:
Step 1: National ID's are issued.
Step 2: ???????????????????????????????????????
Step 3: Terrorists are foiled, lots of lives are saved.
Do you know what Step 2 is? Does anyone?
Yes, I thought you might say something like that. In other words, you haven't the slightest idea how a national ID would prevent attacks. Reminds me of those in the Black Plague who held parades to cure disease.
If you ever get the foggiest notion of how national ID's would help, let me know. Maybe then we could have an intelligent conversation about it instead of hurling nursery school insults.
This coming from a person who just said, "Remove your head from your butt"
That is 'intelligent conversation'???
