We are all upset and angry about these events. Let's not make things worse by making it no fun to FReep all night. Of course, this is Jim's site, and if he has decided to lax the vanity posting rules this week, then of course I defer to his wise judgement which has already led FR to its current glory.

First,...you should post your vanities under "Your Opinions/Questions", not under "News & Current Events"

Yes, of course. Unlike what I just did and the fella who posted "Why are threads being pulled" under foreign affairs.
To: Rodney King
I was just trying to help...
FR has a filter that eliminates "opinions/questions". So those who only want to read published articles can do so..

Perhaps it would help if someone started an "Armchair General" thread...

Not to be your editor, but wouldn't "The Bonfire of the Vanities", be a better title? Although I hate to give Tom Wolfe any props.....
To: Rodney King, Dallas, OKSooner, anyone else who knows me
An excellent idea - a vanity post about a vanity post!
If anyone knows of any undiscovered classics that would otherwise have gone unnoticed why not post the links here?
By chance I discovered one that could become a golden great after the author attacked me on another thread. Like "being savaged by a dead sheep" as a British politician once said.
In it our intrepid correspondent outlines an important visit to McDonald's and a conversation with his friends at the youth hostel.

Actually, I think the guy who posted "A Question" is about right on the same level of US Secretary of State Colin Powell in this regard - What the F was he thinking??!!!
One of the first things Powell did after horrendous act, was to get on the phone with Arafat and Peres to discuss "peace!" WHY??!!!
The only thing Powell should have been saying to the terrorist Arafat was, "Yessir, you're on a special HELL-o cell phone. Buh-bye!" IMO!
End Arafat and his P.L.O.T. now!
People who let Terrorists live are errorists!

Perhaps they should give prizes for the best one.

Just to annoy people I have linked dighton's link back to here so everyone can have a nice time going round in circles.

I sense a Wolfe at my door.

Thanks for the flag to dighton's link, I hadn't seen it previously. And bouquets to Jim Robinson. Let the unravelling begin.

Not to be your editor, but wouldn't "The Bonfire of the Vanities", be a better title Yes, but that was already in common usage for anti-vanity threads a year or so ago.
To: jjbrouwer
I don't know how to post links, but here is a great one.

Maybe we should also just post our replies as new threads.

This post was made in vain.
