If we only go after bin Laden, we might as well surrender now. It is absolutely imperative that we strike against the states that sponsor terrorism. We don't have to hit them all at once; we may not have to hit them all, period, if we can put big enough frighteners on the ones we don't hit. But there are governments in this world that must be destroyed.
It is a use of military force to restore public safety, and hot pursuit of the perpetrators of a crime.
No, no, no, no. We must not treat this as a criminal act. We must not let bin Laden and his buddies get into American courts so they can hire Johnnie Cochran and Alan Dershowitz and do an OJ. And if we treat this as a crime, then that must be our goal. We don't simply kill criminals without trial.
But I want our explicit goal to be to kill bin Laden and his followers, either through military action or by execution after a quick trial before a military tribunal. That's why I want a declaration of war. So that there will be no doubt, no mixed messages, no BS about "bringing the perpetrators to justice."
If I recall correctly, Bob Barr has drafted a resolution to declare war.
Btw, how ya doing?

I hope there are no signers that think such a war will stay at isolated strikes against known terrorist locations. All who sign this document had better extrapolate an escalation and take personal responsibility for the end result.
Sense when is it uselss, reactionary, dangerous and dumb to declare war on those who have attacked you and killed and maimed thosuands of your citizens?
I submit it is useless, head in the sand, dangerous and dumb to NOT do this. We MUST then follow through with it.
Dangerous I will buy ... but defending liberty has ALWAYS been dangerous and always will be. We dare not forget it, or cower away from it unless we npo longer want to be free.
You are of course free to think the way you will. As am I.

A declaration of war allows us to do what MUST be done to eradicate them and their abetters.
I understand your point, but I am not sure this is corrcet. If I am not mistaken, did we not do this very thing with the Barbary pirates? Now, how successful it was, is another issue. What are your thoughts on this?
Regards.
Thanks Jeff.
Take a look HERE if per chance ytou missed it.
Thousands of innocent Americans are dead in a cold blooded act of war against our nation, its people, its infrastructure and its institutions. We'd best all recognize that for what it is and respons similarly.
This declaration is not just meant to be against those rogue groups ... it MUST also be against the governments and nations harboring them.
Bob Barr is introducing the official version of this in COngress today.
I expect, if we get fully engaged in the Mid-East, that the Far-East will go to hell on us. It could be a long, long road.
