If you want a General Maximus, you should elect one.

Tell us, Sir Armchair General, who exactly would that have been? Can you put aside your Bush bashing that long? Or will you, like the leftists and socialists who are probably secretly jumping for joy, continue to give aid and comfort to our enemies while you stand and accuse our President? Just curious.

US-Mexico border closed: Translation....closing the barn door after the horses get away.

It wasn't closed yesterday, did they decide to close it after all? I think it's just as easy to get throught the Canadian border but I don't think either border was closed.

"My grandfather, who was a civil engineer in Poland during WWII, was shot by the Nazis for refusing to help them rebuild a bridge destroyed by the Polish underground. His heroism and memory will live on for generations in our family. His bravery is a daily inspiration for me, 45 years later.

Mr. Barnett will be remembered in the same way by his family for generations to come. Although his children will no longer have a father, they have a memory and honor that can never be taken away."

GREAT post....and it made me cry.

What about a simple lock on the cockpit door? The plane's cockpit and pilots must be secure regardless of what happens in the passenger compartment. My understanding was that when the stewardesses were being killed, a pilot opened the door to find out what was going on. That's when the terrorists took control.

There is no excuse for 1) Murdering innocent American in cold blood and causing billions of dollars in damage.
2)There is no excuse for celebrating or justifying such crimes.
Both activities are dastardly and deserve the utmost punishment.

"True American Heroes."

Someone on Fox said a cop who rode the collapse of one of the towers down from the 82 floor, and survuved, was a hero. BS, he is merely the luckiest SOB in Manhattan! Bless him

The real culprit in this is none other than that sob sister Jimmy Carter. He was the one who made it possible for Khomenni to return to Iran and overthrow the Shah setting this fundamentalist garbage in motion. Weakness and fuzzy thinking lead to things like this. I despise Jimmy Carter. Always have, always will. This just confirms my feelings. Now is the time to get behind GW and not make childish comments. Putz76 is a great name for this clown. Speaking of Putzs, Hillary is on right now. Milking it for all it is worth. Before long she will be telling GW what to do.

I am reminded of something that has already started. Phony politicians and talking heads who will use great tragedies for their own agenda. They are like little toadies who will run behind horrible acts for their own advantage.

The morning of this horrible tragedy, I was woken up by a phone call from someone who never calls me. The person on the line called to tell me about this sad occasion and he was laughing. He was able to be the first to tell someone about this and he was enjoying it.

He is a hero because he went into a burning and failing building trying to save lives. His fall is not what makes him a hero, it is the actions that put him at risk that make him a hero.

"NO ONE can prevent something like this."

As I try to imagine the courage it took to face armed hijackers, I can only think, 'If only a few of the passengers had been armed with a gun'.

As far as I'm concerned, all of the gun control freaks have the blood of these valiant heros on their hands today.

Once again get lost. I am sure Jim Robinson who is after all webmaster would pull it if he thought like you do. Let these brave people have the respect they deserve for now. Too soon they will be forgotten,as all heroes are. Not much else positive in his whole mess, so leave us alone.

If they didn't tell everyone what they were going to do, then I bet the passengers would have all just sat there thinking once the plane landed where they wanted to go they would be safe.

From this moment on, nobody should just sit there and not resist a hijacker, even if they have a gun.

Will he who is without sin among you, please cast the first stone? As ye sow, so shall ye reap.

Please, oh please, tell me the seeds sown by those killed yesterday to have reaped so bitter a harvest. Can you do that for me, Kaptain Kanada? Do you think that buildings in Alberta and Montreal burning and crashing to the ground would change your mind? Like several other Armchair Generals on this post, it is very easy to sit back and criticize; especially from somewhere that was not touched and a Country where the scum that did this crossed the border.

It is not those who died yesterday that sewed the wind; it is those who harbored, financed, supported, and celebrated these actions. I, for one, am fully prepared to help them reap the whirlwind.

Cockpit doors are always locked! The Flight Attendants were killed because the highjackers were probably looking for the atendant's keys to gain entrance into the cockpit. Flight Attendants would never willing give up those keys. Sadly, these young men and women are an airliners first line of defense against terrorists who are determined to take over an air carrier. Sadly, also, they are usually underprepared to meet such an attack.

All honor due those men...
Honor Due All Men
In particular, a pertinent part...The sense of duty is the greatest gift of God. The idea of right is the primary and the highest revelation of God to the human mind, and all outward revelations are founded on and addressed to it. All mysteries of science and theology fade away before the grandeur of the simple perception of duty which dawns on the mind of the little child. That perception brings him into the moral kingdom of God. That lays on him an everlasting bond. He in whom the conviction of duty is unfolded becomes subject from that moment to a law which no power in the universe can abrogate. He forms a new and indissoluble connection with God, that of an accountable being. He begins to stand before an inward tribunal, on the decisions of which his whole happiness rests; he hears a voice which, if faithfully followed, will guide him to perfection, and in neglecting which he brings upon himself inevitable misery. We little understand the solemnity of the moral principle in every human mind. We think not how awful are its functions. We forget that it is the germ of immortality. Did we understand it, we should look with a feeling of reverence on every being to whom it is given.
While some may disagree with parts of the article I thought this most appropriate today.
