My daughter is 20 now, and I still have to break news to her gently. She is a really tender-hearted, sensitive kid. We have to take into account each of our children's personality, that's why I always defer to mom's gut feeling.

Oh I know you are right West ... it's just this whole thing just breaks my heart .. parents who lost children and children who lost parents ... just makes you want to hug your kids tight and not let go ..

Not that I am a fan of CNN .. but the one guy reporting today .. his voice kept cracking .. then later at night he made a comment about thinking what was going threw his daughters mind .. was she feeling the same as he did as a kid hiding under the desks .. this is just so sad ...

John Gibson on Fox News has been especially astute with his questions and observations today - I tried to watch MSNBC for a minute, but couldn't handle Chris Matthews

The UN building was evacuated right away this morning --- I don't know why. I'm sure it was the safest place in NYC as a harbor of international terrorists and host nations for decades.

I was 18 at the time. A few days later the son of my sort of step-dad was killed trying to save survivors trapped in the over turned hulls. The news, especially details did not traval as fast as it does now. He knew his son was there but didn't find out for days he had been killed. There was no wailing like I see now, either with him or the country at large. People were angry deep down inside. They didn't feel it did any good to stand around wringing ones hands. In all honesty I see a lot of hysteria now that I didn't see in 41.

I think you are right ... My father fought in WWII and was at the Battle of the Buldge from what my mother tells me ... your generation is so much different then the generation of today ...today people have had it really good for a long time .. they were in denial .. they call us on the right we were all nuts .. out there .. well looks like we weren't all that nuts after all ... the sad part is .. it takes something like this to open peoples eyes
