That's strange, when things like this happen, I feel the need to clean my weapons and count my ammo.
Funny thing, I feel the same way, and as a matter of fact, I am doing that now, as well as getting my emergency kits together. Who knows what these nuts will do next? We are ALL targets, be ready to defend yourself.

more than 12 hours later and there has been NO speculation in the media about how many have died? There was speculation indirectly. They asked Julliani and they also have quoted figures from 20,000 to 50,000 of the number of employees in the buildings at the time, let alone tourists and people in the streets and shops nearby.
The American public knows in their hearts it is high; they don't want to deal with it right now.
I assume practically everyone above the impact area died, but there was time for quite a few people below to evacuate and they know the drill, and I hope many did get out.
Needless to say, I think the number will be in five figures.

I feel the need to clean my weapons I've been fighting the urge to clean my Glock all night. I was supposed to shoot at my CCW class tonight. It was cancelled because the instructor has been called into work where he is an armed guard. He works at the Sharon Harris Nuclear Power Plant. I'm glad they cancelled though, I doubt my mind would have been on my studies.

I went to my little gun store to re-furbish my .44 mag ammo. I did buy some more .223 as well. I have enough of the rest of my cache. I did stop at the local K-mart to see if this was the policy....it was. I told the poor clerk there that I wouldn't buy underwear there if I was naked and desititute. He asked me if I wanted to talk to the manager...I replied..........NO!

K-Mart is run by some of the most pathetic piss ant scum in the business world. They've been foundering for years. Now, I just hope they go belly up. I'm tired of the idiots that run K-Mart.

Prepared for what?
I am closing out my parents' house after they moved to a retirement facility , and I have my Dad's shotgun, but I don't think there is going to be an invasion on our beaches or that the Michigan Islamics are going to raid your neighborhood.
I think there is more glee in our Tenth Amendment crowd and our anti-globalization crowd here at FR who think we've already gone to Hades than among most Arab-Americans.
But I could be wrong.

Needless to say, I think the number will be in five figures. The wires are reporting 10,000+
BTW, CNN is reporting the FBI is getting search warrants in south Florida to look for evidence.

We are ALL targets, be ready to defend yourself That is ALWAYS true, and was true before this happened. Unless you're in an area in NYC likely to be looted, I don't think you are at increased risk now.
However, there may be a wave of rolling consequences economically that no one is talking about; and that may be a real mess.
You're right; it's best to be prepared. But don't start shooting the neighbors who come over to return your wrench.

That's one thing I've learned today. Create enough panic, and the idiots will start taking control of everything. I was lucy as heck to get home from work in such short order given that all these offices and labs were being evacuated everywhere at exactly the same time. This was occurring while other wunnerful Metro officials made the crucial decision to shut down Union Station. A brother in law in Raleigh, NC (who has no connections with the government whatsoever) was evacuated from his office complex hours after the last attack. For what reason? This tragedy could turn us into the country of zero-tolerance policies. You know, the sort of things that are happening in high schools where butter knife wielding class presidents are thrown in jail and 15 year old felons are given detention. Forget armed guards and metal detectors. Airports need something more sexy like face scanning technology and a national id system to go with it!

"The safety of our customers and our associates is our first priority," Then why are they refusing their customers the tools they need to defend themselves from scrots like the ones making such a mess today? They don't always use hijacked aircraft you know.
IMHO, they've just been looking for the right excuse to come along. No skin of my back, haven't bought guns from them ever, and haven't bought any ammo from them for over a decade.

I stopped to get some 12-ga buckshot loads, and they were putting the long guns and ammo away. I asked why? and they said "Because of the attacks in New York."
I said, "That's why I need them!" They just shrugged, and told me it was a corporate thing, so I went down to an indoor shooting range.
Their personnel were more than happy to furnish what I needed to defend my home and family.
Yup, K-Mart sux. So does Rosie.
