All that matters is that it further divides this country by intensifying racial tensions. It is a matter of perception *on both sides*, and that is what this is about

Racial tension is aggravated by perceived _real_ grievances. This makes the Black lobby look comic and prone to tantrums. It probably reduces the hard left vote among the White boomer left. I hope Jesse and Al keep it up.

Anyway, aren't we already paying reparations? I thought that's what minority civil service jobs were supposed to do.

Where is the timeline threshold?

I am a Cajun. My closest ansestors where exiled by the British and separated the men and boys from the rest of their families, and shipped to places like Louisiana. Before that, my ancient tribesmen, the Gauls, where over-run, beaten, raped, enslaved and conquered by the Roman Empire. Before that, who knows?

So where is my money from the descendants of Rome and the British Empire?

Or, is there a 140 year limit to my grievances?

Hey someone sure owes me bigtime. If not for Sherman marching through the South and burning all of the plantations, I probably could be a plantation owner today instead of Po White Trash. And by the way shouldn't I be able to collect from all of the Blacks whose relatives owned plantations in Louisiana. After all they should have to fork over some kind on reparations since they owned slaves.

Lets all get a clear head on Jesse and the Rainbow Squad. They cannot function without massive funding from major US corporations. We know for a fact that they hit on these companies bigtime to pay them a yearly check. If your company refuses to pay...they get targeted and their name gets mentioned in the press. Lets all do these companies a favor...and send them a little note that we cannot buy stuff from them anymore if they support Rainbow and jesse. If Rainbow has free rein to chastise the companies, then we have the same privelage. And another subject. Jesse has about six years to make this all happen, because the Litinos in the US are quickly becoming the number minority. They will totally dominate Texas politics by 2009, and major influences on California politics as well. Blacks are slowly sliding to the number two minority spot. Reparations will be far down on any Latinos priority list when this period of American history comes up. And my final two cents. Reparations, in fact, work only when the actual party has been hurt. It has no significant benifit for the 2nd or 3rd or 4th or 5th party that comes afterwards. In this particuliar case, it will like pull 40 to 60 million adults throughout the US toward one particuliar view, which may not be great for the government. We all remember the last civil war and the damage it caused. While necessary...we should not tempt fate and cause total damage.

I agree with you--that this "issue" is NOT going to go away. When O.J. Simpson was found not guilty in the first trial (not the civil one), every (and I mean every) Black person I knew (of course, I was in high school so we were all libs at that point) was GLAD he got off! They've been fed this victim crap for so long that they want "revenge". And then there's these dumb white libs who are saying "go for yours, the money will just come out of the pockets of some "evil" rich white man". Most of the American public, of all races, are stupid, after all this government screwel education/socialization.

The thing is, Jackson is just stirring the pot once again. He needs racial tension to have power. He ultimately wants to see racial violence, which will occur one of two ways: 1)The black Americans do get "reparations". Lower-income inner city whites get really angry and there are riots. The blacks riot also. 2) Reparations heats up until it's all we're hearing about, with the media and their Democrat masters knowing full well it'll be a cold day in you-know-where before it'll happen. Every sheeple talk-show finds the most illiterate, ghetto-ass blacks to talk about it. (Of course, they won't feature Walter Williams or Larry Elder!) When reparations do not happen, there are black-on-everybody-else (especially white and Asian) race riots that are even worse than L.A. and Cincy. The NAACP (National Afro American Communist Party) encourages this.

It's a never-ending cycle.

More food for thought: 1) Are Oprah Winfrey, Bill Cosby, Berry Gordy, Michael and Janet Jackson, Diana Ross, Quincy Jones, Eddie Murphy...et al suppoded to receive reparations? 2) What about this growing class of bi-racial children born to white mothers (who pretend they're black) out of wedlock? Why should white women who have unmarried sex with black men benefit financially from the color of their bastards? 3) What exactly is "black"? How much African blood qualifies someone for reparations? How do they even know if their ancestors were free blacks or not? What about the descendants of black slave OWNERS? 4) What about the trillions of dollars the U.N. confiscates from our economy every year to send to African despotic leaders, who murder their own countrymen?

Let's calculate the diference based upon the average income for a black in Africa vs. a black in America multiplied by the last 150 years or so since slavery was outlawed. And see who needs to be writing a check. The average annual income in Africa is $500, just by the way.

I've said it before, and I'll keep saying it. Reparations are an EXCELLENT idea.

We need to restore all African-Americans demanding reparations, to the financial condition that they would be in now, if their ancestors had not been brought over here. That's the only fair way of redressing the wrong!!

I agree with those who see this as a huge problem for the Dems. Let JJ keep forcing this issue, and see how many voters bolt the Democrat party. Plenty of whites would decide their money could be better spent. Maybe some Hispanics, also.

I think the poverty pimps like Jackson and Sharpton are too stooooopid to realize they might just be pushing this cr*p too far. All of my family came to America after WWI and all fought in WWII. And that's not the last war we fought in. It'll be a cold day in h*ll before I pay one cent in reparations. Sorry to be so blunt, but that's the way it is.
