You're not the only one with that feeling.
The party uses OUR investment to extend their influence. Anything good that happens it is Beijing who did it. Anything bad, it is the fault of the local peasants.

What I think is stupid is that our foreign policy crowd tries to demonize Taiwan. They never get down to the nuances of why they were actually fighting back in the 1930s and 40s, and why they are fighting now.
There should not even BE any argument over our committment to Taiwan.
We should also go about calling into question the legitimacy of the CCP.
I don't say full blown feudal because they don't compel people to kowtow and all those kinds of rituals. The basic concept is still there though.
China has been feudal for 2000 years or more, and very little has changed in the last 50 years. The only thing that happened is they took feudalism out of its box, but the whole cake is still intact.
Sun Yat Sen was a true revolutionary.
