“Trump plans to weaken vehicle mileage rules that limit air pollution”

For those not familiar with 1984-speak, the term ‘pollution’ in this context is Carbon Dioxide, not the yucky stuff that gets people sick as gasoline cars now pollute next to zero.

I looked up the numbers. China from 2000 to 2023 went up in carbon emissions by 263%. The US dropped by 21%. The 2023 numbers show China at almost 3 times the amount the US emits. India at number 3 almost tripled their emissions. I vaguely recall when China passed the US to be number 1. They aren’t just edging the US but are way out in front now. They account for 34% of the entire world emissions. The US is at 12%.

Part of the way into the movie xxx with Vin Diesel, he admits he drives all the current cars but was reluctant to sit in his late father’s American muscle car (which he did later).
Wasn’t sure he could handle the power from the old days when his dad drove it.

Actually, hot air coming out of politicians’ mouths contribute more than anything to global warming!

The Toyota Tacoma only comes in a 4 cylinder turbo now.
They got rid of their 4.0 liter V6.
Which is why I decided to keep my 2012 double cab long bed with 124K miles.

IF I can find a 2015 with lower miles in in a double cab V6 long bed(6’) I am probably going to buy it.

They got rid of the spare because Hybrid batteries are taking the space of the tire, and only Toyota ever bothered to design around that fact.

LOL. All the rules do is limit air pollution. They have no other consequence. So Trump must be doing this because he wants people to die from air pollution!!!!

Turbos aren’t the issue.

It’s aluminum motors, both block and head. It’s extended oil intervals to reduce the EPA required yearly annual cost analysis(which is why all the big services are now after 100k, like timing belts on the Honda 3.5)

It’s Oil which is so thin my piss has more viscosity.
It’s using your engine coolant to cool your transaxle, which is causing these motors to run hotter then aluminum should.

the 300 is in my opinion, the Second best gasoline 6 cylinder motor ever designed. I love that motor. Had two f150s and both had a 5 speed stick. Learned to drive stick in my first one.

Only Beat by the Dodge Slant 6.

True. A customer of mine built fire trucks and other emergency vehicles. I was surprised to learn that all the engines were inlines. Maintenance and low-end torque were the keys.

AP is the worst of the climate propagandists. This is what we voted for. These rules have ruined cars and added thousands to the cost. They have had to strangle the motors to meet the ridiculous standards. The rats were going to regulate ICE vehicles off the roads with this BS.

That is the main reason I bought the Massey Ferguson Iseki diesel engine tractor. It is a 37HP turbo triple cylinder diesel engine. It does not need DEF or have a regen filter.

Imposed by Jimmy Carter administration along with the 55 mph national speed limit as an energy conservation measure.

Nixon was to thank for the 55 MPH limit. Not Carter.

No turbo for my small Focus engine. No real power either. But it has 366,000 on it with nothing done except plugs at 100k, oil every 10k or less, and the MAF sensor change, but I think the squirrels ate the old one.

The secret? It's a stick and I don't under or over-rev the engine.

I saw that they make a 4X4, diesel, manual 6 speed Hilux. From what it looks like, it starts around $30K.

If they sold that here, I would buy it so fast.
