I am so tired of Leftist idiots who say the rich should “give their money away to the poor”. Bezos has been a millionaire for over a decade and, instead of buying a yacht and sailing around the world eating bon-bons or just giving it away, he plowed the profits back into the company. Because of his efforts, over 250,000+ souls now owe their food, clothing, and shelter to his efforts. This is a perfect example of “Trickle Down Economics”. So to all the Leftists who know nothing about economics, sit down and STFU.
I understand why people worry about AI. Obviously, there comes a point where we cede control when what we delegate goes beyond a finite task.
For example, a toaster or coffee maker may make toast and coffee better, faster and more efficiently than a human - so delegating those tasks to a machine, a tool, does not usurp control. Furthermore, delegating to a machine the decision of when or whether to make toast or coffee - even that can make sense - when the machine’s ‘decision’ is triggered by human set parameters.
But what happens when we delegate to the machine the role of setting the parameters? That might be ok - but what about the role of setting parameters for setting parameters? And so on.
Having said that -surgery is a finite task like making toast (albeit more complex) - so Musk is right - it is clearly going to transpire that machines far surpass the best human surgeons and diagnosticians - and it won’t be long at all before it happens.
Healthcare is ripe for the picking as a candidate for AI.
The “safety driver” who’s not even in the driver’s seat, will be gotten rid off before end of year. It started only in July.

After my first routine colonoscopy, was stopped when my heart rate went into the single digits and they kept me in the hospital for a day...
He said I should have told the anesthesiologist that I was an avid cyclist and my resting heart rate was lower than most.
Five years later, for my next colonoscopy, I made certain to speak with the anesthesiologist...
He checked my HR with a finger and his watch a few times, then wheeled in a large box to triple-check.

At 75 y.o., I hope and pray that Optimus is an answer to the age old question, “What should we do about Mom?” (or Dad, or Grandparents, or other disabled loved ones.) It could be one of the greatest gifts to humanity EVER. Make it an affordable lease option that can be returned, refurbed, upgraded, and re-leased when it’s service is no longer needed. Put me on the waiting list now. I’d gladly take an Alpha version over the low IQ CNA at the local nursing home.
People used to be knowledgeable enough about what products and services they want or need - so as not to get ripped off - not just healthcare - everything.
These days, the average consumer is so ignorant - whether it’s plumbing, a new roof, car maintenance and repairs - whatever - they are at the mercy of contractors, merchants or corporations - so intimidated that they just accept what the seller tells them is the best deal.
I am a Jack of all trades type - with tools and skills inherited from my father and grandfather - so in many areas I am immune to getting ripped off - but healthcare is different - it’s frowned upon to question the doctor.
I do it anyway, but people treat me like I’m an idiot for questioning the doctor - they are wrong - doctors need to be watched like a hawk just like any other trade.
Once the “buyer beware” mentality is lost from a trade, the price and risk goes up, the quality goes down and corruption creeps in.
And I don’t want to hear about the Hippocratic oath - the value of an oath depends entirely on the character of the one taking it.
I think Musk is a bit over optimistic, but I’m rooting for him and I hope robot abilities do develop rapidly. I’ll take a robot surgeon over a DEI doctor any day, because in about 20 years, those will be the only doctors available.

My current doctor is 71 years old and still independent.
Those are rapidly becoming extinct. I dread the day I have to look for a new doctor.

I’m 73 and I have no idea who my doctor is. I’ve outlived at least two - one back in the late 1970s and the next in the 1980s. There was a third one who took over the practice - who I saw once when I had some back pain in 1992 that turned out to be pancreatitis. That cleared up by itself just by me cutting back on hard liquor and hard salami - and I haven’t been to a doctor since except for rotator cuff surgery on my right shoulder (which I regretted) but I think then I didn’t see a family doctor - just the surgeon.
