I was in during the Carter years & got hit with a delay of pay then. Agreed on the poor research by the writer.
I had a feeling he’d find the means to pay them.
I don’t remember that, and I was in the entire Carter era.

I was in but on a Boomer on patrol. We got ( I think 10 paychecks before patrol), I gave them to my wife and said save as much as you can till I get back. 3 months later, I get back to New London. “How’s the money honey?” She tells me it’s thin. No problem I got a check due. Didn’t show. I went down to dispersing to see why. Got sent back to Navy housing to get into my dress blues as directed by a fat Navy Chief Dispersing Clerk. Got called to attention and had my ass handed to me, telling me her Navy didn’t owe me 💩. She left and I called my CO. He at the time was the youngest Captain to take a Posiden boat on patrol. He talked to the Chief, explained a few things. She the apologized and I got paid. Trump and Hegseth will get our people paid. They remind me of my CO. IMO
It is incredibly cool when someone higher up the food chain turns some fool into dinner.
