Yes, since it is American citizens who pay those tariffs, not China. I don’t support his tariff tactics.
‘’’’’’’
The chinese pay the tarriffs.
If you’re barking about inflation—it has not happened.
I completely support this.
We can buy elsewhere or make it here.
The rest of the world will adjust.

Hear, Hear!
Tariffs are a tax paid by consumers...
An income tax by a different name.
What does China make that can’t be made here?
Income taxes are not optional like the tariff. The CCP govt and importers ‘eat’ much of the tariff .
💯! I am so sick of us “educating”(providing intel) to Chinese students. It is one of the most asinine, idiotic things we do as a nation.
It would make sense that they are many of the ANTIFA are of the Maoist commie flavor.
I can’t remember if DSA is Maoist for Trotskyist in orientation.
Who pays income taxes? Consumption taxes like the tariff are the fairest taxes.
.........
americans pay income taxes. but I’d not getting how that relates to tarriffs.
In the first 120 years of US history there were no income taxes. the feds lived off tarriffs primarily on goods coming into the USA. That proteccted the USA from the superior british industrial complex while enabling the US industrial sector to grow and flourish and become competitive. The first income tax in the early 20th century coincided with the reduction of tarriffs. Why? US industries had become very competitive so they were ready to compete on the world stage. To do that they needed the USA to lower tarriffs so other countries would lower tarriffs to enable US industries to export more.
The last 50 years have stripped the USA of its industrial base. That needs to ne reestablished. So the feds are throwing up tarriff barriers both to raise money and to provide protection while the USA grows back its industrial base as it did for most of the 19th century.
Over the past 24 hours a total of 1,365,862 traders were liquidated with total liquidations amounting to $7.29B
The single largest liquidation order occurred on HTX-BTC and was worth nearly $87.53M
I watched it..
Where will the US be getting rare earths?
Huge liquidity grab wick and now back inside the zone on BTC. But there was $7.29b liquidated. Sheesh
Go to hell where you came from.
Thanks for letting us know you don't know anything about international trade and the Chinese economy.
Maybe it's time to repatriate those jobs. I'd much rather pay for our infrastructure and military instead of China's, even if it means paying more.
No they don't. The tariffs are applied at the port of entry, and charged to the purchaser. I know. There are things I use that simply are not made in the US or Europe. I process the invoice and either write a check or let the US Customs office tag my credit card.
Odd, since a consumer can choose to buy a product from multiple sources, and buying a product that was imported from a country where there are high tariffs is optional for the consumer. What other "taxes" can you avoid by picking another seller of some goods?
We have GOT to restore our rare earth mining and processing capability urgently. We allowed Gaia Worshipers to kill it off when America was the largest producer in the world in the 1990s. This created a critical strategic vulnerability. We cannot allow this to continue.
The rumor is that Xi Jinping had a stroke yesterday and is in critical condition. That would explain the Chinese action today: a distraction.
Our own mines and refineries, or those in other nations around the world.
China has the largest share of rare earth refiners, just like they have the largest market share of a number of other types of factories.
See my post #55. You do not have a correct understanding of how it works.
