Re ‘route’: My memory is that this route is an escape route for ‘leadership’ under certain DHS circumstances, e.g., terror attack or otherwise, and they practice the route regularly (and seems to have been a regular trigger for ‘near misses’ if my recollection is correct).
Someone put her in the pilot seat in a substandard aircraft and a route which endangered civilian traffic.
“I WANT SOME BUTT!!!” (with rank and/or office)
Exactly my point.
It was stupid to ignore human nature and assign a lower ranked instructor.A senior instructor would ORDER corrective actions or TAKE THE CONTROLS while a lower rank instructor only suggests politely fearing repercustions from a higher ranked officer.
The instructor might have saved his life and 66 more had he been assertive. True it might well have cost his military career but there are other ways to live.
Spot on IMHO
Altimeter check
bkmk
Because the Pentagon was running an air taxi service for VIP’s, 24/7/365.
If it wasn’t for VIPs, Reagan National would have been shut down years ago, it’s not a safe location given the area it’s in.
Then there was Inland Motors that would meet us at some little uncontrolled field as you would approach the rolling hills of North Virginia. Real creepy CIA kinda people needing some sort of part delivered in person. Early on guidance electronics for GPS guided ordinance stuff. Early 90's. I remember being on final at National when the news of Vince Foster was being chattered on Unicom radio.
When flying at 200’ AGL one uses Radio Altimeter and Ground Prox.
Most Army helo pilots are CWOs.
Odd, was just thinking about this incident today as I flew Southwest into BWI. I refuse to fly to DCA since this incident. I was also wondering who exactly from the US Army has been court martialed over this? Still waiting to hear. The US military drills “accountability” into their recruits’ heads but apparently the organization itself has zero. Army heads need to roll. Court martial proceedings should be televised. This was a massive F up by the Army and somehow the chain of command sees zero repercussions. Insane.
Of course the Altimeter was broken, the copter was destroyed. When I got in a car crash, the speedometer was broken, along with the clock and radio.
Exactly
I wouldn’t even try to disuade you.
