Congress recently CUT off $9 billion through a rescissions measure —— primarily the unpopular “foreign aid” and the liberal-leaning “public broadcasting money. “

By contrast-——the “Medicare Advantage” program alone gets nearly 10 times that in unverified perks.

So this is the “advantage” they have been pushing. It explains a lot. I’ve always been suspicious of this scheme.

The only Medicare Advantage perk I get is some items from CVS every 3 months.

We likewise have a great plan Medicare Advantage plan that covers far more than regular Medicare for a lot less money.

It gives us far better prescription prices than Medicare did.

Also it does do rebates, as when you buy something like glasses, you pay for it, submit the bill to them, and they reimburse you for a set dollar amount not exceeding the limit for that year. IIRC it was about $150 for a pair of glasses and I had to mail in a copy of the receipt.

The big problem with any government program is lack of oversight and not dealing with fraud.

Take care of (IOW, PROSECUTE to the fullest extent of the law people scamming the system in whatever way) the fraud, and costs will go down.

The other issue, is that ultimately, the government should get out of healthcare and let insurance companies insure people, but since people are forced onto it, it would not be right to dump all them and leave them with NOTHING.

Well, if there didn’t seem to be a conspiracy of big ag and big pharma, and the medical complex more interested in keeping people sick and *Treating* them, maybe healthcare costs would go down.

Hopefully, RFK Jr can make a difference in how some people think and eat.

We eat very well. I grow much of what we eat in the summer and I cook lower carb, lower salt meals and we rarely have desserts and simply don’t do junk food of any kind.

Matter of fact, eating well and getting plenty of exercise, mr. mm has completely reversed his osteoporosis. And we have the bone scans to show the improvement. His last scan showed normal bone density, from over 15 years ago when he broke a hip from a fall in his 50’s.

What does that have to do with anything, compassionless nurse? Prepaid cards are only offered by some plans, not all. Is that your justification for taking away hearing, vision, and dental?

Try living on SS, as millions do, where Advantage plans are life savers: the difference between being blind or not, hearing or not, living in agony with bad teeth or not.

The article call for ending, not fixing Medicare Advantage.

The whole point of ObamaCare was to break the system to the point where the people will demand Single-Payer.

What do groceries, utility bills and even cable TV have to do with health care?

It’s nothing but carrots tossed out to get suckers to sign up for single payer/0bieScare/HillaryHMOs.

Wait until you truly need specialist care. You’ll love what your copays become, then.

A friend of ours had after effects of the jab ... and, was getting eye injections. Went on MediScare Advantage and was told their co-payments would become $400/injection (ea month).

They are going to switch to traditional, as soon as they can.

But ... go ahead and enjoy those prepaid teaser cards, PIF. Meanwhile, the cronies are grifting off of the unsustainable. system.

And, don’t even get me started on ACOs. That’s another MediScare grift operation.

Your emotional attack calling me "compassionless nurse" does not support your argument.

Medicare Advantage companies spend an extraordinary amount of taxpayer money on advertising across all media platforms. In 2022, there were 643,852 airings of English-language Medicare ads run on broadcast television and national cable between October 1 and December 7, an average of more than 9,500 airings per day.

The lax oversight of Medicare Advantage funding has been extremely lucrative for the insurers, first and foremost.

Your emotions may sway you into believing the hard marketing pitches for perks. However, every federal tax dollar for Medicare should be spent to improve the health of Medicare recipients. A flood of advertising, phone cards, groceries and rebates do not improve health outcomes.

Ask yourself why the MA insurers need to hard sell their products. Rest assured, it isn't their compassion for your well being.

Just stating what you are: advocating misery, pain, and death to people that depend on Medicare Advantage - all to save a buck. What goes around, comes around.

A lot - people need them to eat, to live, to stay warm in winter and cool in summer, to keep apprised of the news and entertained - all of which contributes to their mental & physical health.

My co-pays were reasonable for the cost of an operation north of $150k. Then there was the 14 days in the hospital bill, physical therapy, drugs MRIs, ultrasounds etc.

You smug heartless types have no idea what it is to live on SS and have very expensive life saving operations, after care, physical therapy, drugs etc. Without my MA plan I would have been dead or living in utter agony for the rest of my life. As are millions on millions of others who are every thankful for our MAs.

Your extraordinarily emotional replies are offering a glimpse into your psyche.

Your profile says you spent four years in the US Army. Do you also have VA benefits?
