Media's favorite "lawyer" Benjamin Crump is reportedly involved.
“favorite “lawyer” Benjamin Crump”
Make that: “favorite “lawyer” Benjamin Corrupt.”
I remember that video. The driver was uncooperative and a bit arrogant.
But there was zero reason for that punch. The driver wasn’t reaching for a weapon or trying to drive off. He’s got a big payday in his future.
what they didn’t say in this report is the guy had a knife on the driver’s side floorboard.
They also don’t show the body cam videos of what happened before the breaking of the window.
The cop pulled him over, got out walked toward the car, the driver opened the door and was partially out of the car, then slammed the door and locked himself inside and refused multiple orders to exit the vehicle.
The cop then waited until back up arrived, continued to order the guy out of the car, the passenger refused every lawful order and was asking for a supervisor.
They did not know the facts stated at the time they broke the window. They used unecessary violence for a trafffic stop. And you can clearly see the officer lied about seatbelt he had to reach over and open to get him out of the car!!! There was no reason to be that rough hewas not a danger.
Driver informed the officer that the window was broken and so had to open the door to talk to him.
Also either lied about needing to have headlights on or all of the officers were violating the same law. None of the police cars have headlights on nor do they have windshield wipers going. This was a complete BS traffic stop.
And we know this to be true that the window is broken, a person driving on a suspended license with a knife and marijuana in his possession wouldn’t lie to protect himself.
When the driver jumped back in the car and locked himself in, that probably set off alarm bells bell for the cop.
> what they didn’t say in this report is the guy had a knife on the driver’s side floorboard <
I watched a longer video of this incident and did not notice that. But I don’t doubt what you said.
I still don’t get that single punch. If the driver had access to a weapon the cops would have had their guns drawn. I didn’t see that.
You are correct that the driver was uncooperative. He was refusing orders. And his request for a supervisor is a common delaying tactic. He had something to hide.
Bad dude. And a frustrated cop who overreacted.
The brother-man just can’t help themselves. And you just knew the media was hiding something. Like the cops on the bridge in Cincinnati, these guys weren’t taking any chances. They gave this guy many opportunities to step out of the car—after 10 minutes, it’s almost presumed this guy had a weapon, which he did (a serrated knife on the driver’s floorboard), or drugs (which he had in his pocket).
When did it become illegal to have a knife in your car. I always carry a knife and frequently a gun. Does that give cops the right to bust my window and yank me out of the car?
William Anthony McNeil, Jr. failed to show his Sovereign Citizen ‘Get out of jail free’ and none of this would have happened.
Sadly paid for by taxpayers. Qualified immunity needs to end.
> Also either lied about needing to have headlights on or all of the officers were violating the same law. <
I just went back and looked at a longer video of this incident. By golly, you’re right. The police cruiser that pulled up in front of the guy’s vehicle did not have its headlights on. This stop stinks even more than I thought it did.
And that doesn’t mean the driver was in the right. He was uncooperative. It does mean the cops behaved very badly here.
IF you stand next to your car, then jump back in and lock door and refuse multiple lawful orders to exit your vehicle, then expect to get you window smashed in.
I never said it was illegal to have a knife in your possession, those are your words, if you have the knife in reaching distance while locking yourself inside of your car and refuse multiple lawful orders to exit the vehicle, then you are subject to getting your window smashed and getting dragged out of the car, thrown on the ground and cuffed.
When I was in IL this was a regular occurrence. I often saw it first hand. Civilian is less than perfect in the eyes of the police and the police respond in a less than perfect way.
Now in GA it happens...but seems to be rare compared to IL.
Apparently he doesn’t know it’s to early for the midterms. They don’t need riots yet. Waste of a punch to the head for him.
> refuse multiple lawful orders to exit the vehicle, then you are subject to getting your window smashed and getting dragged out of the car, thrown on the ground and cuffed <
Totally agree, sr. Now let’s say it wasn’t a lawful order. Then argue that point in court. If a cop tells you to exit the vehicle, exit the vehicle.
What really bothers me is that punch. Police (and citizens in self-defense situations) are required to use proportional force only. There a thousand videos out there of drivers being pulled out of vehicles without being punched. And in this case the driver showed his hands when told to do so.
The driver deserved to be arrested. And the cop committed a criminal battery.
I think if you really want to dig into the background, this cop patrols this area of town which is not a good area on a daily basis, he recognized the car, pulled over for a BS reason and found out the guy was driving with a suspended license and had an unlawful amount of marijuana in the car.
The punch is a bad look, what I think the cop was trying to do is disorient the guy after you add up all the actions before the punch, so he didn’t get out of the car fighting or reach for a weapon which was available to the cop, sort of like using a taser or pepper spray, disorient the guy so situation doesn’t escalate further.
