More than likely it will limit money that morons who have no business going to college will be able to access. You should at least have a double digit I.Q. if you’re going to throw money at a worthless social worker college attendance certificate.
“For many students and their families, federal student aid is key for college access.”
Usually it’s the key to Intersectional-Vaginal studies or something like it.
A FAR BETTER option is to let employers cover the cost of college (or a significant portion of it), in exchange for working several years for the employer...much as the military does with ROTC. The employer would tell the the students to leave the ‘Intersectional’ work in the dorm, but take SERIOUS classes of value to the employer...or else the deal with would cease.
Or maybe we could redirect the money to train future plumbers, HVAC technicians, drywall hangers or people who our economy needs more than another degree in xyz group studies.
BINGO!!!
Since these grants, colleges tuition skyrocketed.
Or maybe we could redirect the money to train future plumbers, HVAC technicians, drywall hangers or people who our economy needs more than another degree in xyz group studies. And then they could have a job with a "living wage"
Warning: Working with your hands might also requires using your head.
And the money:
If you want to be a diesel mechanic or work for John Deere or many other companies you won’t need to pay your own tuition. Those youngsters have a golden ticket if they want to pursue a real career instead of spending four years and a few hundred thousand dollars to get a degree in French poetry.
Tuition could be one reason for the grant amount decrease; force lower tuition by reducing the amount of money available.
YAY!!! COLLEGE “EDUCATION” has become mostly a joke.
I went to school with a girl who got a Pell Grant. The very day the money came through for her, she went and purchased furniture with it.
So much waste and fraud - where are MY reparations from. paying taxes all these years for wastes of humanity.
I think having colleges co-sign all new money student loans should be the top college finance priority.
I would also eliminate all new money Parent Plus loans.
There should also be tighter loan limits:
1. $5,000 first year undergraduate
2. $10,000 second to fourth year undergraduate
($7,000 if not on track to graduate on time)
3. $15,000 two-year degree
4. $35,000 four-year degree
5. $50,000 maximum student loan except for law/medical/dental/veterinary school
6. $125,000 law school + undergraduate
7. $35,000 first year medical/dental/veterinary/law school
8. $50,000 each additional year medical/dental/veterinary school
Good colleges have huge endowments nowadays.
Keeping new student loan debt reasonable will be better for federal finances than cutting Pell Grant amounts.
Another option is to decrease the first year Pell Grant amount and increase the following year Pell Grants.
My Pell Grant money was used to pay tuition.
I think I got $1,000/year and tuition ranged from $3,300 to $4,000/year.
Perhaps the Pell Grant amount should depend on the courses taken.
Remember that many first-year classes are very large.
The federal government need not be lending or granting as much money in the first year of college.
Perhaps federal college money should only be able to be used to pay tuition.
The amount of federal college money might be limited to the amount paid by at least 20% of the students and their parents.
The world needs ditch diggers too.
The PELL GRANT is not for US citizens anymore...the illegals get it and America’s middle class families get to pay the 7K in cash.
It needs to go.
BFD. They can make more $ by learning plumbing or other basic skills at trade schools.
