Armed, masked secretive police come to your door and whisk away a friend or family member and give you no information as to why or where they are going, and this is ok? What the hell is liberal about objecting to this kind of government thuggery?

The families can go to the detention facility later and get that information. The goal is to protect the agent on the street from onlookers.

It's not a "secret police tactic" if the raid is documented and the information is available to the family, just because it isn't provided on demand during the action.

As long as the raid is documented, they have warrants for the arrest of the person with a deportation order, and the arrest is carried out lawfully, the family can wait to get the information they request.

If a week goes by and the family has no information, their lawyer is denied access to the arrested person, and ICE says that no raid occurrred, then we can talk.

It is wholly unsurprising to me that someone as stupid as you who is either unwilling or unable to distinguish between agents of the government acting on our behalf to enforce our laws hiding their identities because they and their families are being threatened by people like you, and rogue government agencies who take innocent citizens away in the middle of the night would be incapable of appreciating the situation.

Plame's husband Joe Wilson outed himself in an op-ed in the New York Times when he wrote about his yellowcake investigations for the CIA a week before Novak's column. Spouses of known CIA assets are always under increased scrutiny and surveillance by our adversary intelligence agencies, either to see if they are assets, too, or to glean potential intelligence on her husband by monitoring her own movements and communications.

Wilson's op-ed likely made Plame no longer viable as a NOC for missions in foreign countries.

ICE agents are still on the front lines and exposed to hostile action by radicalized protesters. With the increase in "swatting" and police ambushes, hiding their identities during the raids is a reasonable protection as long as the raids are authorized, documented, and the information is available to any litigants during due process hearings afterwards.

The public-at-large doesn't need to see the faces of the ICE agents who are executing the raids.
