My sister was in one of these scams in the 90’s in LA. Illegals in cars in front of her and behind her, front car hit brakes and when she slowed, the car behind her hit her from behind and she hit the car in front of her that had stopped. They all got out holding their necks and she had to pay $500 on the spot or they would call the police on her.
Oh, yes, please-make this fraud as public as it gets so everyone can be as pissed as I am. After being a workers comp case manager for 30 years, I saw the market begin to go bad in the 1st year of GW Bush’s administration, because of deliberate comp cheaters feeding the proliferation of ambulance chasers to file bogus disability suits in ridiculous amounts for minor injuries that are NOT permanent disabling conditions-while I worked my ass off to get them back to work and happy-and save taxpayers, employers and comp carriers money...
Gradually, comp carriers lost money and quit assigning case managers to get injured workers through the rehab, re-training/return to work process-by the 2nd Obama admin, I was a jobless, broke widow, and went to work doing on site-worker safety consultation-covering proper body mechanics, proper use of equipment, assistive devices, situational awareness, etc.
While my new gig is not nearly as well-paying as case management-I’m on contract and my own boss, and I work outdoors a lot which I love-a fair trade. But I will be howling with glee if all the corruption is dragged into the legal light of day and results in deportations, lawyers being disbarred, etc-as well as taxpayer money not being wasted on phony disability payments any more. Karma can be a bitch-let it be so...

What a shame that happened in LA, where your sis had no recourse. I would have lost my Latin temper and ended up owing big $$$$$...

Often the fraud includes lawyers, clinics/clinicians, chiropractors, pharmacists, and so on all operated by the same immigrant ethnicity — completely vertical operations.
Usually the scheme unravels when one of their designate victims are accidentally killed in the setup accident.

It works the other way, too — sometimes. In Knoxville there was a “Carlos Insurance.” Right on the front door, it said “No license? No problem!”
I’d be shocked if he actually paid any claims.
