Well...that seems important
There’s a Metro station in Paris named “Stalingrad”, it’s to commemorate the battle.
There you go, restore the name of the second greatest mass-murderer of the 20th century. Zelensky sucks and I’m tired of bankrolling Ukraine’s war, but Putin sucks too.
Even Old New York was once New Amsterdam.
For most of its history Volgograd/Stalingrad was called Tsaritsyn. Who knows when that name is coming back.
Well, if Katowice becomes “Stalinogród” again, that’s when I am going to worry.
If Putin were really an egotistical dictator wouldn’t he call the place “Putingrad” but this story is hype for Ukraine IMHO.
Ukraine is epicenter of neo-Nazism in the world and hypocritical Zeeptards couldn't give a hoot.
Yes, but Joseph Amsterdam was not a mass murderer. Stalin was just as evil as Hitler and praise of him should be just as unacceptable as that of Hitler. It is telling that Putin repeatedly praises Stalin and holds him as a role model. But that seems OK to some here as long as he is fighting as those Nazis hiding under every Ukrainian bed.
I do condemn them. Feel free to see it.
I don’t think it’s so much about Stalin, as it was the battle, which is why the French named the Metro station “Stalingrad”. And indeed it was a turning point in the war for the Allies.
You never hear historians refer to it as “The Battle of Volgograd”.
But of course Putin is using it to send a message, but I won’t give him the satisfaction by getting too worked up about it.
Putin has praised Stalin by name.
I think although it’s from CNN this is a pretty fair analysis.....

The last line, sums it up...
“The problem is not just one strongman — it is that so many people wanted a strongman in the first place.”
Hitler was popular with the German people too.
“Now, let’s see you condemn Ukraine ...”
Now, let’s see you condemn Russia.
Are we going to invade and occupy Russia anytime soon?
And look what we had to do with Japan to win the war, and occupy it afterwards.
Opus?
Correct. “Stalingrad” dates to 1925, and it’s after an egotistical pseudonym to boot.
