I read his treatise some forty plus years ago—so the spelling eludes me at this moment, but the concept was the “little Spark of Faith” of which if memory serves me, he was accused of heresy—as for Gelassenheit (proper spelling) being releasement, I always understood it as Spark of Faith, which of course can be considered a form of release. I would have to re-read Heidegger to understand what he meant by that statement.

If only there were something like an "internet search engine" - then we wouldn't have to dredge up half-remembered info from half a century ago! We could instead have certainty!

And perhaps it was my initial readings of Heidegger where I found the term and since he was basing it upon Eckhart’s earlier treatises—that I conflagulated conflated the two. Who knows—But I still would insist that this flash of light represents the introduction of the soul at the moment of creation of a human.

Heidegger simply adopted the terms "Seelenfunken" and "Gelassenheit" from Eckart.
