p
It’s getting real.
Interesting times.
I always figured Amazon was the world leader when it comes to selling Chinese junk. They seem made for each other.
What about Walmart? What are they doing now?
I forgot about Amazon.
Walmart and Target get everything from China.
Amazon added to the list
I just searched Amazon for “american products only”
Things looked a lot different.
Amazon only gets 25% of the direct cost from China. I understand China, but aren’t negotiations underway with other countries ?
I really feel sorry for Bezos.
Just kidding.
I got scammed by Amazon yesterday. Ordered a truck accessory and received a used pair of tennis shoes and half a dozen dvd’s.
First time to be scammed on Amazon, and supposed to not be charged. It’s very similar to buying something from facebook.
Except when you buy from facebook your credit card is copied and fraud charges occur.
this surprises me... how can they be left holding the bag if they are just an ordering middle man?
Now we know why Bezos was at the inauguration. AMAZON is doing their part to help break the CHICOMs. Awesome!!
TEMU is still open for business….
I ordered some gloves and received a feathered dress from Amazon.
Yes this is an interesting escalation. Amazon is a whale. So far China is trying to stare Trump down. Amazon just hit their flank.
But they also are BEING hurt a LOT, based on this Amazon article, and also this snippet from CNBC:
Trump’s tariffs on China are already hampering Christmas sales. About 87% of Christmas items sold in the U.S. were imported from China in 2024, amounting to roughly $4 billion in goods, Reuters reports.
Orders for those year-end items typically get finalized by mid-April, producers told the news service. This year, the U.S. orders aren’t coming in.
“So far this year, none of my American customers have placed any orders,” Qun Ying, who runs an artificial Christmas tree factory in China, told Reuters. “Of course it’s about the tariffs.”
(hahahahaha)
“and half a dozen dvd’s.”
Well, were they good CD’s?
I’ve ordered stuff recently like a wind chime holder and other equally banal products that I know have no brand name American brands. They all have incredibly horrid Chinese company names, you want to see a real joke?
Do an Amazon search for a computer/office desk and you will see more Chinese crap than you can imagine.
I saw a video that one city in China has enough textile capacity to clothe the entire planet for a year in one month.
They are so screwed if people stop buying that it’s not possible for us to understand or comprehend. Their capacity is just so massive that civil unrest will result if there are no orders.
