Yes, there will be an adjustment period during which there will be some inflation. Yes, there will be some pain until alternate suppliers are found for all the goods we are buying from China. BUT we WILL find other willing sellers. There are lots of people/companies in the world who would be happy to sell us things. Let's see how well China does finding an alternative to the largest consumer market on earth.
Yup. Hold the line. Push the line. Make the commies squeal. It is long overdue.
Yep. The customer is always right. The winners will be the countries that sign deals quickly and can replace Chinese goods. At least the ones we can’t easily make here.
Once those supply lines are moved, China won’t get them back.
This was a stupid move by China. But understandable considering their face-saving neediness.
They are selling bonds to purchase stocks that are on sale. Its called rebalancing the portfolio.
And the mistake was that advanced nations in North America,Europe and elsewhere decided that they wanted fingernail clippers made in China for 50 cents each rather than ones made somewhere else costing 55 cent.
Those advanced nations made it possible for Red China to become an economic...and military...powerhouse.
And now the civilized word is seeing the results. And 20 years from now this world will be unrecognizable.
China has backed themselves into a corner. They are used to pushing other countries around and have become arrogant in their relations with the world. Unfortunately for them, they need the US more than the US needs them, and President Trump is not going to bow to China. Eventually the Chinese will come to the economic realization that they need US trading dollars and they will have to negotiate with the US to open trade and reduce tariffs, but to do so, China will lose face and have to bow to the US. This will be a painful and humiliating domestic and international situation for the Chinese government.
what do we sell to china, very little
I don’t want anything made in China. I can’t tolerate China. My European dad grew up in China, and I have heard the stories about what the Chinese will do for money. No. Not interested in seeing the great wall. Want nothing to do with China. Not interested.
A weakness they will regret.
We sell lots but from within China, as they’ve made us locate the production for it there.
So China just decreased U.S. imports from nothing to really nothing.
When Trump does deals will he put pressure on other countries to restrict China trade.
Great idea China! Of course just cutting tariffs down to a reasonable level would have been much more stupider
Another bloodbath in the market today.
Oil now below $56/bbl. We should start soon seeing major relief at the pump. That will help us get through these tumultuous market swings.
Yes. Quite the opportunity
Good news from all of this: Chinese goods will be very easy to spot by the price tag. We’ve been wanting to buy American for a long time, but so many balked at the higher price. Now that Chinese goods will necessarily go up in price, the American alternatives will be much more attractive.
It’s almost like Trump knows what he’s doing.
