Is he wrong? Taxes are imposed to raise revenue or change behavior. Please explain to me the purpose of a tariff?

This sales tax on imported products, tariff it makes you feel better to not use the T word, is intended to make us rich by forcing companies to make product here. What is that forcing mechanism? To raise the cost of imports high enough that it becomes cheaper to buy goods made here. If you want less of something you tax it like cigs.

I think MAGA world cannot swallow Trump raising taxes even if it’s for their own good.
