from 2022, this list of Canadian tariffs on US goods, in just the first two pages of a few thousand, shows multiple instances of 100 or more percent tariffs.

I doubt one in one thousand Canadians are aware of how severely Canada has tariffed US goods for decades. Trump has brought that into the light and opened up curiosity and discussion amongst the non-hysterics. A 25% tariff on the US side is nothing in comparison to what we are burdened with. In fact, the tariffs will end up working to our advantage, causing Canada to lower their historic tariffs to more equitable levels.
Trump is way far ahead of your knee-jerk reaction.

He made his first impression as an unaccountable injustice, and you don’t get another chance.
