west slope CO price of eggs $8 but the shelves are empty , plenty of $10 and $12 eggs if you want.

China took over the poultry and pork industryin the US with the help of Big Pharma and they are setting sights on Beef , they already control the food distribution system

I predict that the next big event like COVID or 9/11 will be food related all it would take is a dirty bomb to contaminate US food supplies and we would be dependent on China

“unable to remember what the price of eggs was in her home state”,p.

Oh, how I hate to make any statement that seems to be in defense of a Democrat, but when I do the shopping for my wife and me, I just pick up the eggs without paying much attention to the price.

Pre covid a dozen jumbo eggs were $0.79. After covid they went to $2.59. They had spiked to over $3 but dropped down. Today a dozen extra large eggs at Meijer were $5.09.

The difference in the $2.59 to $5.09 is because of stupid Democrat politicians made it mandatory that all eggs be from cage free chickens. That effectively doubled the cost of eggs for no benefit that I can see. The chickens are just dumped side by side in a giant barn.

In NC, today I got vegetarian fed, organic, free range large eggs for $4.49. The regular eggs were over $8 a dozen.,

Eggs are a buck each in California where our wonderful voters have decreed that every laying hen must enjoy a happy childhood with ample room for leisure and activities.

As such, eggs are very expensive for reasons that have nothing to do with the chicken sniffles.

And voters here recently did the same thing for pigs.

I’m far north in Spokane. Only buy pasture=raised eggs. Lots of $$$ here, but Natural Grocer has them for $7.35, only 99 cents more than before “bird flu”.

Pasture=raised eggs have far more Omega 3’s, which is what makes eggs good for you. They eat worms and even a lizard or frog, as Freepers who own them reported. Grain is not appropriate food for chickens.

I have 12 layers, 3 roosters, 5 Guineas.

Got 8 eggs this morning.

Don’t know or care what the store price on eggs is.

Well ... I have no idea what the price of eggs is either. I buy eggs when I want/need eggs, along with whatever else is in my cart. Groceries are getting a lot more expensive, but I rarely look at prices of individual items.

Congratulations on your lack of discernment, inattentiveness, lack of perception, or general absent-mindedness!

In all honesty: I navigate grocery shopping more or less the same way.

And just how expensive have eggs gotten, anyway? 79ȼ for a dozen medium-sized, farm-fresh eggs? Or maybe even 99ȼ?

I can live with that!

Regards,

Why Aren’t Chicken Meat Prices Rising Like Egg Prices?
https://www.theepochtimes.com/business/why-arent-chicken-meat-prices-rising-like-egg-prices-5816824?utm_source=partner&utm_campaign=TheLibertyDaily

Furthermore, Anderson said, the sheer scale of U.S. broiler production protects it from being decimated by HPAI mitigation. He said there were about 291 million layers in the United States as of Feb. 1. By comparison, Anderson said, about 796 million broilers were slaughtered for food in January.

Additionally, a broiler farm typically has about 200,000 birds on site when a flock is raised to market weight. By comparison, an egg farm can have millions of layer hens in a single complex. Recent data from the USDA’s Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service show that about 3 million birds were affected in a single outbreak in Darke County, Ohio, on Feb. 21.

“So the scale of production is really different,” Anderson said in an email. “So if we lose 300,000 broilers to bird flu, it’s not nearly as big a deal as the loss of an egg farm.”

Moreover, while layer birds can take months to reach productive maturity, a broiler flock typically reaches its market weight within six weeks.
