I said to my wife this morning that if this second crash was presented as, a 44 year old jet that was based in Mexico crashed on takeoff in icy conditions in Philly….the story would not sound sinister. It would “make sense.” You would read it and say, “Yeah…that sounds tragic, but I get it.”

Instead…we get Twitter Pilots talking about missiles.

Thirty seconds after takeoff -the first thought I had was: “could they have collided with a drone?” There are many of those hazards in the air around urban areas.

I am getting completely gobsmacked by the sheer stupidity of commentators who are supposedly “experts” when these things happen.

On the Philly crash, comments about “the plane possibly stalled”. No idiot, before you can even fly solo, you have to learn how to recover from a stall. Without an engine a plane is just a real heavy glider. Push the nose over, pick up airspeed, then level out. Can usually be done in 1-2 hundred feet of elevation, they had 1600ft. You do not fly at full speed at a 45 degree angle to the ground!

Most likely cause of Philly IMHO is either a) O2 tank exploded or b) Drone Strike took out control surfaces and at least 1 engine. It did appear it was on fire when it was coming down.

And because information is being intentionally withheld, the Internet fills with conspiracy theories. One that I find plausible ... will the second tragedy occupy all of media bandwidth and take the public's eye off the first tragedy so it can be memory-holed? Who was on-board the helicopter and who was on-board the jet?
