How did i make a living as a self-employed musician for half a century without this essential knowledge?/s
Is it possible that big donors finally said, “Stop the madness?”
You should write a song about “Indigenous Genders and Sexualities in North America”. It’s a catchy title.
Most of the course names sound Babylon-Bee-Made-Up-ish.
I wonder how they’d like Introduction to Differential Equations?
Have to keep the Fighting Toxic Masculinity and Fundamental Transformation of Racist America ones.
These are real, not joke, courses:
Tree Climbing: Cornell University. Students who never learned to climb a tree as a child can now receive college-level education on the subject.
Joy of Garbage. Taught at Santa Clara University, this course actually goes into depth about decomposition and odors. Includes effects on the climate from trash disposal.
UFOs In American Society: Temple University.
How To Win A Beauty Pageant. “This course examines US beauty pageants from the 1920s to the present. Our aim will be to analyze pageantry.... At Oberlin College.
Philosophy and Star Trek: Georgetown University. Students who take this class will not only get to watch Star Trek, but delve into the issues....
Ikebana: zen flower arrangement.
Geography of Wine. Arizona State University.
Paintball Kinesiology. Texas A & M. Offered only to students at the “novice” level.
And finally, one that Joe Biden should have taken.
Ice Cream Short Course.
Pennsylvania State University
Course description: Professionals looking to be immersed in the world of ice cream manufacturing can take this weeklong short course, which Penn State has offered for 128 years. Entrepreneurs and curious students learn about ice cream from cow to cone.
““Marx at the Mall: Consumer Culture & Its Critics,” “Global Transgender Histories,” “Indigenous Genders and Sexualities in North America,” “The Making of Race across Latin America,” and “Global Histories of Capitalism.””
I remember decades ago laughingly talking about how Vanderbilt University should just offer “A Marxist-Feminist Perspective on Feminism and Marxism” in their course guide. It’s only gotten worse.
Could it be more and more young skulls full of mush are having epiphanies? That all they’d get from those Masters in Ubangi transgender studies, Aztec lesbian drum beating, systemic racism in navel gazing and other such irrelevacies is tons of student loan debt. And they wouldn’t qualify them to work as barristas at a Starschmucks
Is Hahvahd trying to regain a bit of credibility?
Well, there go my dreams of a career in Global Transgender Histories. My dissertation on the semiotics of John Holmes movies will remain unpublished and the world will be a poorer place for it. (sobbing)
In my small company none of these courses would have any relevance to our needs. I need employees who have basic technical knowledge, such as how to tighten a screw, and how to use their hands to assemble something.
My biggest problem is having them come back to work after a few weeks. They seem to think $20/hrs is not worthy of their talent.
GOOD!
Hey, where are you located? I’d love $20/hour!
Indigenous Genders and Sexualities
In North America, in Generalities
Consists of XX and XY Respectively,
Exactly like the rest of humanity.
And so, it’s like the rest of the Planet
Just like way The Great Spirit Planned it.
An occaisional Brave may think he’s Non-Binary
And eschews the Warrior’s Traditional Finery
An occaisional Maiden wil prefer to go hunting
Instead of wrapping a papoose in bunting.
But generally, it’s like the rest of the Planet
Just like the way the Great Spirit Planned it.
A Two-Spirit person is considered an anomoly
A trait that might show in his physiognomy
But wisdom would show that you can’t follow your dream
If it means changing canoes when your speeding downstream.
In short, wisdom would dictate that the tribe should ban it
And just live the way The Grear Spirit Planned it!
(That needs a little tweaking, but it’s a good start)
lol. Very funny.
I’m guessing ChatGPT?
Yeah, I’m guessing that a “power driver” means something else in these courses.
Fight Fiercely, Harvard!
I thought you were doing your dissertation on the urban lesbian perspective of modern poetry. Dang, I was looking forward to it.
Berkeley, way back when, first year, first semester: History 17a American History; History 4a Western Civ; English 10; Geomorphology; Language 100; 17 units.
