File for bankruptcy and let a federal judge grant permission to close?

Better read the fine print when you check into the Hotel California.

"Board of Supervisors member Dean Preston (Democratic Socialist), says stores that try to leave San Francisco would have to provide the city with six months’ notice, allowing city leaders time to look for a replacement retail tenant."

Bull.! Rather than paying the city and paying for the loss due to theft for six months, use that money and hire a good lawyer (that may be a misnomer) and make them pay for anything and everything you can think of..

The city doesn't own the property or the business..

Section 8 has made sure that no neighborhood is beyond the threat.

Moved to get away from the ghetto? The government will move the ghetto to you!

Change the name so it does not hurt your brand, don’t restock, change hours so you are only open 30 minutes per day. Go Galt.

In fairness, it got even worse since Karmala Harris left.

The remaining business owners in SF need to go Galt, and shut all their stores for one week as a demonstration. No groceries, no gas, no restaurants, no nothing. They need to get organized and fight back.

How is this constitutional?

But then again, the communists know that it will take forever for some poor guy who refuses to comply to make it's way to SCOTUS. By then, he's financially ruined beyond repair.

I’d put my notice in now regardless of condition.

So basically, the stores are threatened with jail if they don’t remain open so the thieves, who are not jailed, can continue to steal.

Hollywood couldn’t make this up.

How would they enforce this?

Bring back Freedom of Association. Let stores put up signs saying, “Due to theft, only whites and asians are allowed entry.”

No different from all these banks that refuse service to conservatives.

I’m guessing fixing the root problem has slipped past them.

Not at all. To them the root problem is the greedy capitalist owners of grocery stores who are preventing people from ‘touching the nice things’ they deserve. /s

“Point One. All workers, wage earners and employees of any kind whatsoever shall henceforth be attached to their jobs and shall not leave nor be dismissed nor change employment, under penalty of a term in jail. The penalty shall be determined by the Unification Board , such Board to be appointed by the Bureau of Economic Planning and National Resources. All persons reaching the age of twenty-one shall report to the Unification Board, which shall assign them to where, in its opinion, their services will best serve the interests of the nation.

Unlawful detainment. This is so illegal, just leave and tell them to stuff it.

Ohio did this under Gov Celeste years ago by levying an “Exit Tax” equal to 6 months wages to “cover retraining and unemployment claims”. Many companies were leaving the Rust Belt for more business-friendly employment opportunities in the South. After about 9 months of this law, someone noticed that there were no new business formations in Ohio.

I have a company with 100 employees in the state. I want out but am hamstrung by this tax. 100 employees for six months is a pretty penny. So, I lay off all but, say, two employees six months before I plan to shut down operations for good. I give the notice and must pay the tax. But six months of two employees' wages is a lot less than six months wages for 100 employees. In the meantime, the 98 laid off employees are a drain on the state.

In other news, SF has decided to fine everyone who refuses to open a business in their city.

Lol.

Good question. Do the shoplifters rob you piecemeal, or the does the government rob you wholesale? Only way out is close up quick and run.
