What many people don’t realize is that a lot of the “recyclables” that we so meticulously put in those blue bins … gets shipped to China who then dump it into the ocean. We pay THEM to dump into the ocean what we couldn’t dump here.

China stopped accepting US recyclables 2-3 years ago. Most new stuff comes from China’s river/ocean front wasted dumps which have been overflowing for years.

7.5 billion to clean up garbage?
That's 7.4 billion in "administrative expenses" and 500mm in operations.

From Wikipedia -

Despite the common public perception of the patch existing as giant islands of floating garbage, its low density (4 particles per cubic metre (3.1/cu yd)) prevents detection by satellite imagery, or even by casual boaters or divers in the area. This is because the patch is a widely dispersed area consisting primarily of suspended “fingernail-sized or smaller”—often microscopic—particles in the upper water column known as microplastics.[4]

if you were on a boat in the middle of it, you could not even SEE it.

That’s nice ... but the real reason you don’t see it on google earth is that google earth doesn’t show sea-surface except very close to land. Everything else is bathymetry.

It’s NOT THERE.....The photos of plastic you can see are from collected plastic or photoshopped....This is a HOAX when they show “islands” of plastic. IT DOES NOT EXIST.

Read the real articles about the “garbage patch” they talk about how many pounds per square mile there is of plastics, that that most of it is not at the surface...

Why do so many people take the alarmists at their word? Do you believe CO2 is a pollutant? Global Warming? Or Global Cooling? Or Acid Rain, I can keep going.

That’s according to the Ocean Cleanup, a non-profit organization that has led the fight to remove the dangerous plastic from the Pacific — most of which, it says, consists of discarded fishing equipment from Japan and China.

MOST isn't from the US...yet we are made to feel guilty and put measures in place that do nothing for the problem.

GOOGLE EARTH IS NOT GOING TO TELL YOU ANYTHING ABOUT THE GARBAGE PATCH BECAUSE GOOGLE EARTH DOES NOT CONTAIN IMAGERY OF THAT AREA.

Please read this, you are literally mis-informed. There is NO island of plastic floating for any satellite to see!

https://oceana.org/blog/3-misconceptions-about-great-pacific-garbage-patch/

You never answered if you believe in Global warming, and if CO2 is a pollutant.

Please read this, you are literally misinformed:

GOOGLE EARTH DOES NOT PROVIDE IMAGERY OF OPEN OCEAN AREAS.

You used google earth to support your argument.

It doesn't.

Again:

GOOGLE EARTH DOES NOT PROVIDE IMAGERY OF OPEN OCEAN AREAS.

GOOGLE EARTH DOES NOT PROVIDE IMAGERY OF OPEN OCEAN AREAS.

Get that FACT through your thick skull.

Get this - THERE IS NO GARBAGE PATCH TO SEE.

I SEE YOU STILL BELIEVE IN GLOBAL WARMING AND CO2 IS A POLLUTANT.

I got about 100 other hoaxes I bet you believe in too.

In post #30, you wrote:

It’s a hoax there is no garbage patch. If you think there is, please find it on Google earth.

This is a bogus argument.

GOOGLE EARTH DOES NOT PROVIDE IMAGERY OF OPEN OCEAN AREAS.

Its existence or nonexistence cannot be proven by reference to google earth.

You libtards always use straw man arguments.

Nobody cares about Google earth.

The subject was IS there or Is there NOT a real, physical floating mat of gargbage somewhere in the Pacific.

I see you believe there is..... have a nice day. You are beyond help.

Please put your reply in larger font....Try 112 BOLD, next time. You don’t improve your argument, you increase the font size.

In real life, you would just yell your stupidity louder.

I am blessed i don’t know you.

Nobody cares about Google earth.

I guess your real name is "Nobody", then ...

YOU cared enough about google earth to base YOUR argument on it.

I quoted YOUR words from YOUR post #30. YOU made a stupid argument and now YOU double down on stupid rather than being a man and owning up to YOUR error.

As for the rest of your drivel ...

The Bereans searched Scripture very carefully. It's what they're famous for. If you were to search Scripture as carefully as the Bereans did, you'd find a passage that warns you not to bear false witness. You've been consistently bearing false witness against me on this thread. If you were a real man, you'd apologize for that ...

From Wikipedia https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great_Pacific_garbage_patch#.

Can you see the Great Pacific Garbage Patch on satellite?

Despite the common public perception of the patch existing as giant islands of floating garbage, its low density (4 particles per cubic metre (3.1/cu yd)) prevents detection by satellite imagery, or even by casual boaters or divers in the area.

I said you can’t see it by satellite, and that’s true. No matter which satellite. PERIOD.

< sigh >

Are you retarded, or are you being deliberately obtuse?

You invoked google earth to back up your claim that the supposed garbage patch doesn’t exist.

I point out to you that google earth doesn’t provide imagery of the sea surface except very close to land. Therefore, it is irrelevant to the discussion and your reference to it is silly.

You refuse to acknowledge that truth, and instead proceed to repeatedly bear false witness against me. Is bearing false witness standard practice for protestants who claim to follow the Bereans?

At this point, I anticipate from you only obstinate refusal to recognize your error along with you continuing to bear false witness against me.

Since it is a violation of Christian charity for me to be an occasion of sin for you, I am ending this exchange here. I will not read whatever response to me you might happen to write. Consider my questions as being rhetorical.

A properly chosen wavelength for satellite imaging — possibly microwave —is going to reveal “something different” about the area, although obviously is not going to resolve much.
