They are South American. Or African.
Neither of which are liked by Mexicans in Mexico let alone Americans who happen to be of Mexican descent.
My mother’s family (Sephardic) are spread out between Texas and north Mexico and have been for 200+ years. They have nothing in common with these new arrivals.

In my wife’s work dealing with young children and families, there’s been a big wave of indigenous families invading from Oaxaca. They don’t know a word of Spanish. Getting a Mixtecan interpreter is next to impossible in Central California, even remotely.
